In the PHB it specifically says 100gp per page to scribe a new spell into your spellbook.

In the DMG under the item Boccas blessed book it says 25gp.

What is it??

Boccob's Blessed Book being a magic item, it gives certain benefits. one of those is the cheaper cost of scribing i would expect.

Sorry mate but that does not make sence.

If the cost to scribe a spell is in fact 100gp per page then it would cost 100.000gp to scribe 1000 pages(as in the Magic spellbook "Boccas blessed book") But the item only costs 12.500gp and it specifically states that you can scribe a spell in it for free without the normal cost of 25gp per page.

So....is that a typo ?

From SRD v3.5:
Blessed Book

This well-made tome is always of small size, typically no more than 12 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. All such books are durable, waterproof, bound with iron overlaid with silver, and locked.

A wizard can fill the 1,000 pages of a blessed book with spells without paying the 100 gp per page material cost. This book is never found as randomly generated treasure with spells already inscribed in it.

Moderate transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, secret page; Price 12,500 gp;Weight 1 lb.

I guess you have an old version.

hmmm... i see... i guess i probably should have looked up the item in question more closely

right then. well, in my defense, i don't play wizards often, so i don't use that item often either :embarrass

The SRD is updated with the errata on the issue; the 100 from the PHB is correct.

So, yes - a Blessed Book can save your wizard a small fortune over his lifetime in spell scribing costs.
