This seems to be the best board to ask on...
I'm fairly new to D&D, and am trying to create a wizard character. I've looked through this (entire...) forum, and haven't been able to get a clear answer.
I looked through the SRD, but it just seems to be a word-for-word re-telling of the PHB.

So, begining with a few select quotes from the PHB, I now present my problem:

Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells
覧覧覧覧覧 Bonus Spells (by Spell Level) 覧沫覧覧覧
Score Modifier 0 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th

23 4 蘭覧覧覧覧 Can稚 cast spells tied to this ability 覧覧覧覧
45 3 覧覧覧覧覧 Can稚 cast spells tied to this ability 覧覧覧覧
67 2 覧覧覧覧覧 Can稚 cast spells tied to this ability 覧覧覧覧
89 1 覧覧覧覧覧 Can稚 cast spells tied to this ability 覧覧覧覧
1011 0
1213 +1 1
1415 +2 1 1
1617 +3 1 1 1
1819 +4 1 1 1 1
2021 +5 2 1 1 1 1
A wizard gains bonus spells based on her Intelligence score. The minimum Intelligence score needed to cast a wizard spell is 10 + the spell痴 level.

*Point 1) My character has 18 Int., and will have 20 by level 8.

In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Intelligence score.

A wizard begins play with a spellbook containing all 0-level wizard spells (except those from her prohibited school or schools, if any; see School Specialization, below) plus three 1st-level spells of your choice. For each point of Intelligence bonus the wizard has, the spellbook holds one additional 1st-level spell of your choice. At each new wizard level, she gains two new spells of any spell level or levels that she can cast (based on her new wizard level) for her spellbook.

*Point 2) This is where the question starts to form. More in a minute.

Spells Gained at a New Level: Wizards perform a certain amount of spell research between adventures. Each time a character attains a new wizard level, she gains two spells of her choice to add to her spellbook. The two free spells must be of spell levels she can cast.

Okay, here's the Q: I understand that with my high Int., I get an extra 1st level spell at Character level 1, for a total of 4. Also, from what I understand, the Bonus Spell per level (1 for levels 1-4; 2 for level 1 and 1 for levels 2-5 once I reach 20 Int.) indicate an extra spell slot per day. Q1: Is this correct?

The main thing I'm wondering, though, is since the Bonus Spell gives me an extra level 1 spell at the first Character level, do I get Bonus spells at each new spell level as well (when I reach CL 3, and have access to level 2 spells, do I get a Bonus spell there, or is it just the "2 new spells of my choice?")

Sorry this is such a huge post for such a minor question, but I do apriciate your time in reading this and helping an aspiring wizard to understand the rules better!

You get 4 extra spells known at level one because of int = 18 for a total of 7 level one spells known at level 1.
From then one you gain 2 spells known per level gained in total.
So:
level - spells known
1 - 7
2 - 9
3 - 11
4 - 13
etc

With these spells known gained (the 2 per level) you can pick any spell you can cast. So from level 3 you can start casting level 2 spells, and from level 5 you can start casting level 3 spells etc.

You are correct on the bonus spell slots.

You do not gain any other spells known but the two per level.
Any other spells will have to be copied from scrolls etc.

I am not sure I understand you. Don't confuse spells learned each level with how many spells per day you can cast. The INT based chart for bonus spells is for spells per day.

Example:
1st level Wizard with 18 INT:
0st level spells per day: 3
1st level spells per day: 1 + 1 (bonus from 18 INT) = 2
2nd level spells per day: (none) + 1 (bonus) = 0 since you must be able to cast to get the bonus (PHB p9)
3rd level spells per day: (none) + 1 (bonus) = 0
4th level spells per day: (none) + 1 (bonus) = 0

Eample: 9th level Wizard with 20 INT:
0st level spells per day: 4
1st level spells per day: 4 + 2 (bonus from 20 INT) = 6
2nd level spells per day: 4 + 1 (bonus) = 5
3rd level spells per day: 3 + 1 (bonus) = 4
4th level spells per day: 2 + 1 (bonus) = 3
5th level spells per day: 1 + 1 (bonus) = 2
