My DM said that all of our group's casters could create aspell to learn. My spell is one which reverses something's affinity towards energy. IE: Undead become healed by positive energy.

Name:Reverse Energy Affinity
Spell Level: Sorc/Wiz 1, Cleric 2
School:Necromancy
Components: S, V, M
Range:Touch
Duration: 1/Min Per caster level
Material: A handful of bone meal, or a usable holy symbol

The player may reverse something's affinity to energy, causing negative/positive energy to have opposite of their standard effects. Creatures can be healed or hurt for an amount equal to the caster's casting ability modifier x 2. Upon reaching this number, the spell's effects are terminated.

Is this viable? Should I change any of the numbers around?

It's missing the save and sr entries.
As a guess I'd imagine them to be SR: Yes and Save: Will (negates)

But other than that, is it acceptable? It's not overpowered or anything?

For a first level spell? Hell yes. And it doesn't really seem like a thing for a Sor/Wiz. Or only very high level. And the 'casting ability score modifier * 2' is ugly. Better just multiply with caster level.

That seems awfully weak, though. It is intended to be a Necromancer spell, btw. At that rate, at level 4, I could only use it to heal an ally or something for 4 HP, then I would need to recast.

I think what Thiez is saying, correct me if I'm wrong, but that it should be ( caster level * Casting stat ). So, assuming a 16 on your casting stat that's 3 @ the 1st level, 6 @ the second, 9 @ the 3rd and so on.

Also, I agree that you should probably switch the spell level for wizards and clerics, so that they get it at the 1st spell level, and wizards get it at the 2nd (or higher). It does seem more like a cleric thing.

Other than that, it looks good.

Multiplying by the casting stat modifier is gay! :D Get a fixed number, like 5 or 10.

Also, I think that its more of a Transmutation spell, than a Necromancy spell, seeing as you are changing the nature of something. But that's just MHO.
