I can't see any, I know the ones for Scrying (mundane or otherwise), but these two spells seem problematic for a BBEG trying to cover up his past (though so far it hasn't revealed anything damaging).

Are there any methods of protection from those spells, any way to detect someone casting such spells or the like?

The casting time of Legend Lore is 1d10x4 minutes...if the subject is at hand in front of the caster

If the caster only knows detailed information about the person, then the casting time is 1d10 days.

If only rumors are known, then the casting time is 2d6 weeks the the amount of information gained is vague, incomplete, and virtually useless.

The limitations and casting time of a Legend Lore spell alone is enough of a balancing factor to keep it in check. As for Vision, well the DM can always Rule 0 that it doesnt exist or make the XP cost more hefty. I personally always felt that going from a potential casting time of 2d6 weeks to 1 standard action is worth a hell of alot more than simply raising the spell level by +1 and adding a measly 100 XP cost, thus augmenting the Vision spell to fit your campaign's needs for secrecy is a perfectly appropriate house rule IMO.

As for protecting against the afforementioned spells, technically a Mind Blank blocks all information gathering divination spells, thus it would apply to these two although IMC I might house rule it to only block divinations that actually gather information from the target (i.e. the creature is targeted by the spell or within its area of effect) rather than spells that seem to simply pluck information from a unknown cosmic source.

Well I'll check out Mind blank, but its annoying to have one spell on all the time on anyone you don't want visions about.

As for Legend Lore, I did notice the times, but since they let people eat and sleep during its casting then its not such a harsh thing.

Not to mention the fact that an advanturer can rarely go 2d6 weeks without the possibility of having some sort fo interruption or dire occurance that desperately needs their aid and intervention.

Just a note: Vision also requires a caster level check, DC 20 if the subject is on hand, 25 with information, 30 with only rumors known. I think that helps to balance it a bit more.

A bit more on topic- dUde. Check out the examples attached with Legend Lore. Your players, if they know only rumors of the BBEG, are going to get some very cryptic divinations indeed.

Other then Mind Blank, or maybe a Wish/Divine Power, there is not much the bad guys can do vs Legend Lore and Vision......but they don't realy need too.

So you have your Warlord BBEG. Player casts Vision and gets 'Blorg the BattleHeart slew everyone in the village of Bock in a night time supprise attack. He attacked them simply because the village was on his road travel south' So, it's a bit of back story, gives the bad guy some character and is good for role-playing.....but was it realy helpful? Now the player knows the warlord is a bad guy who kills people...wow, what news.
And the information may not be all that useful and will always be vague -'Klorg attacked and killed the red dragon Vox with his cold-hearted blade, Reven' So now you know the powerful fighter has killed a dragon, and had a named sword when he did it(he may no longer have that blade). And legendary stuff can be things like 'Halfling Joe won an arm wrestling match with Bon the Ogre'.
As you only get legendary information, your not going to get his weakness('The sword of BBEG slaying is under the White Rock') and your not going to get game stats('Reven was a +5 bastard sword of red dragon slaying'). For the most part, you'll just get common knowladge anyway.
And the BBEG has to have done something legendary too. Sure the spell says all folks of 11th level plus, but that's a bit much. Everyone of that level plus may have not done that much big stuff.

Now, the spell(s) does have their uses. They are great for role-playing and giving the players plot hooks, but they are not game breakers.
