( even though it is a spell-like ability) Just wanted to be sure I know it says in the phb that spell-like abilities can't counter-spell but as I said, just wanted to be sure (and secretly praying I'm wrong) Also, is there any other way a warlock can achieve the same effect as counter-spelling without becoming a wizard? |

As a GM, however, I would allow a warlock to counterspell with Voracious Dispelling (obviously, you would have to make a dispel check instead of getting automatic success). While the rules are against it, the flavor of the ability favors it, especially since it basically uses up your action for the round. In answer to your last question...only by becoming a true spellcaster (i.e., non-warlock) can you get real counterspelling power...unless you GM lets you come up with a new invocation called "infernal counterspell." |

However, if the SLA itself states that it may be used to counterspell, then it can, even if as a SLA. Thus, dispel magic as a SLA can be used as a counterspell, as can greater dispell and voracious dispelling(assuming it really does what I think it does, and that the counterspell option is explicitly stated in its desc, don't own CA). |
