| Quiablo04-07-06, 01:59 PM | I know the basic rules for counterspelling and for using dispel magic as a counterspell, but recently I have been playing a character who is especially worried about not being dispelled in combat, because he is always walking around with a lot of those "1 hour/lvl" ou "10 mins/lvl" buffs on him, and he doesn't wish them to be dispelled. So I thought it would be a good idea to buy a ring of counterspelling and then put a "greater dispell magic" inside it. Whenever an enemy casts "greater dispell magic" on him, the ring would activate and counterspell the targeted "greater dispell magic". But that also seems quite odd to me; I am not sure if you can use "dispell magic" to dispell the spell "dispell magic" itself. I have found nothing in the rules that says I cannot do it, so I believe it might work. Does anyone know if there is a rule which prohibits this scheme? Of course this ring would not dispell "dispell magic", only "greater dispell magic" (assuming I am placing a "greater dispell magic" in the ring), just like what happens to "fire ball" and "delayed fire ball", but besides that, are there any other problems? |
