You need a bunch of feats to have it be effective, and even then you'd often be better off just attacking them to force a Concentration check. Therefore, I present a series of new and different counterspells. These first two aren't the most exciting, in fact few people would use them. However, they're here to serve as a base for others and to help set appropriate levels. Counterspell Abjuration Level: Sor/Wiz 2 Components: V,S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium Target: One spellcaster Duration: Instantaneous Save: None SR: No This functions as the "Counterspell" effect of Dispel Magic. That is, you can ready to Counterspell with it as normal, and you can counter any spell, but must make a Dispel Check (1d20+CL, max +10) against a DC of (11+the spell's CL). If you succeed, the spell is countered. Counterspell, Greater Abjuration Level: Sor/Wiz 5 As Counterspell, except as above. Also, the cap on the Dispel Check is raised to +20. So as you can see, I just took the "Counterspell" function of the Dispel series and made them their own spells a level below. As I mentioned, not very exciting, but I wanted to make sure we're on the same page regarding level. So what do you think? Are these overpowered? Underpowered? And are the caps on the Dispel Check set at the right amount? Don't worry, I've got some more exciting counterspells, and I'll post them here as soon as I get these ones confirmed. :mage: |

I just want to know if these two are balanced at the levels given, because they're going to serve as a basis for all the rest. Please? |
