| Raven Dark07-06-06, 12:08 AM | Greetings all I'm looking for some Help here can anyone tell me if it is possable to counterspell Wands, Staffs Scrolls, or Spell Turrents(from DMG II). or where I can Find anything that says ether way. Please Thank you You would be better served dispelling the items themselves. Not only would it cancel the spell emitted from the item (if you prepared an action that is), it would prevent its use for a few rounds at a time. EDIT: As per the answer to your question, I haven't the foggiest. |
| tarkin07-06-06, 10:09 AM | You can't counterspell magic items, only spellcasters. |
| runestar07-06-06, 10:21 AM | It's a spellcaster's sole defense against a party whose mage keeps readying an action each round in preparation to counter. :) |
| Asurefireeyes07-07-06, 08:36 PM | Darkraven: I agree but for some reason my Players want a reason or the rule saying why they can not ready action to counterspell Magic Items and Magic Traps Tarkin: any idea while I can find where the core rules say that I've looked over my DMG & PHB and It is oddly silent on the subject I even E-mailed Ask Wizards and even they have not responed or posted a responce. RuneStar: I do agree it also makes Magic Traps slightly less effective Thank you all so far |
| mvincent07-07-06, 08:47 PM | possable to counterspell Wands, Staffs Scrolls,Yes, you can counterspell spells cast from wands, staves and scrolls. |
| Nezkrul07-08-06, 03:06 AM | Yes, you can counterspell spells cast from wands, staves and scrolls. Using a magic item that has spell charges does not allow a spellcraft check to identify a spell being cast because a spell isn't being cast, a magic item is being used. |
