| pedr03-12-06, 04:11 AM | Hello all (and particularly Tim!) Is there any news on when the April DM's Mark packet will be available? I'm going to be running one in April and would like to see what the Story Objects will be, but the file's missing on the RPGA site. I've emailed rpgasanctioning@wizards.com - I'll see if they get back to me! |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi03-12-06, 11:29 PM | If you order an adventure more than three weeks in advance you can't download it until that time |
| pedr03-13-06, 06:59 AM | Yes, I waited until 11/3 (sorry, 3/11 in US terms) which is when the system gave me the link to where the document should be ... but it's not there. |
| Shebaden03-13-06, 11:26 PM | I have the same thing happening with me. When I try and download DMH-9 April 2006 DM's Mark, I get the following error : The file for Scenario DMH091EMH.zip could not be found. |
| TimRat03-14-06, 10:10 AM | hmm interesting. keep me posted on this as it should be ok. i'll ask next time i talk with the person that knows about all this. thanks! |
| pedr03-14-06, 11:40 AM | Just to say it's still not there... Here's a copy/paste of the relevant screen: Scenario Download for PED406HW Please click on each link below in order to download the zip files for your convention. DMH091EMH DMH-9 April 2006 DM's Mark missing Back to Member And clicking the link does, in fact, result in a message saying the file's missing. |
| tilloch03-14-06, 10:13 PM | The RPGA Main Page says that the servers will be down March 14 and 15. |
| Shadowed Intent03-19-06, 08:36 PM | Still can't download the file. |
| TimRat03-21-06, 02:33 PM | ok i let them know that there is an issue. of course with the system being down i'm not sure when it'll be fixed. however the issue could be as simple as the address not pointing the right direction. rest assured it will be fixed tho. |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi03-26-06, 11:22 AM | Less than a week to go until this thing is supposed to start being played. |
| TimRat03-27-06, 06:22 PM | ya i suspect its going to be changed but b/c of the ordering system being down it hasn't been fixed yet. |
| Ken Walz03-27-06, 06:35 PM | Hiya Tim, well the problum we are having in omaha about this, is our game day is the first saterday of the month, now I was a very good boy and put the order in about a month ago now, with our game day being 5 days away now, and tomarrow being my last day off before the game day is there ANY chance in you know where of it being fixed in the next 48 hours, or it going to be a complete wash out?? I am conserned as we have two different GM's that write for the club with our own story arcs so no one person has to "eat" the mod. Thanks for listening to the ramble. Ken Walz. Too Tired for his own good. |
| pedr03-28-06, 05:37 AM | Of course all that we are missing is the standard text about what a DM's Mark is, the synopsis of upcoming modules (which isn't likely to have changed since DMH-7) and the information on the available story objects. It's the third aspect which is the most troubling, as we might not have the codes in time for a 1-Apr gameday, and it might mean that players miss out on getting any story objects for this module. But as far as I can tell there's nothing preventing us from writing and running a DM's Mark and reporting the results even if they don't upload the packet. |
| tilloch03-30-06, 01:16 AM | The ordering sysem is back up. File is still "missing" for the April DM's Mark packet. Steve Deis |
| Shebaden03-30-06, 08:01 AM | Yup, file is still "missing", and the 1st is right around the corner.... Guess we will have to set for having no story object... :( |
| D_karr03-31-06, 08:37 AM | Has anybody contacted the RPGA about the missing file? If so, have you received a response? |
| pedr03-31-06, 12:12 PM | Yep. Emailed rpgasanctioning the same day I posted the first message. I've not chased it (can't really be bothered and I'm not sure my friends really want to play MoH anyway) but - for the record - I've got no response over 2 weeks later. C'est la vie! |
| twoeyedjack04-02-06, 09:45 PM | I sent in an email. Two of them in fact. Here's the second one I sent: To whom it may concern, Please check the database and the download link for the DM's Mark April file. I have ordered this adventure for the month of April and would like to download it. The message I am getting when I click on the file to download is as follows: The file for Scenario DMH091EMH.zip could not be found. Please contact rpgahq@wizards.com I suspect either the actual file is misnamed or the link is mistargeted. Either way, something needs to be done ASAP so that not only myself but others like me can download this packet and plan out our adventures. I got a response. From Tim Kelley himself. It goes as follows: "DMs marks are written and run by the DM we don't write them." That's it. Rather insulting, really. I log onto the boards here and find out this problem has been ongoing for a while now. I had such high hopes after Winter Fantasy that things were going to get better. Obviously, that isn't going to happen right now. Maybe in the future. |
| DBlizzard04-03-06, 05:20 AM | Rather insulting, really.I don't really consider that insulting. What I do think is it shows that they don't really know what is in the things they publish. Apparently he doesn't realize that story objects appear in the DM's Marks. Not a good thing at all. |
| grahamdrew04-03-06, 08:12 AM | Who is Tim Kelly exactly? I've heard his name tossed around a couple times, but is the Wizards customer support or actually part of the rpga hq? It wouldn't be the first time customer support was off the mark, if he isn't RPGA. Andrew Beard |
| qstor04-03-06, 11:14 AM | Who is Tim Kelly exactly? I've heard his name tossed around a couple times, but is the Wizards customer support or actually part of the rpga hq? It wouldn't be the first time customer support was off the mark, if he isn't RPGA. Andrew Beard He works at RPGA HQ and monitors e-mails and the database but he's not a techincal support person for the order database. Mike |
| grahamdrew04-03-06, 12:12 PM | He works at RPGA HQ and monitors e-mails and the database but he's not a techincal support person for the order database. Mike So, in essence, he's someone who should know better? Andrew Beard |
| Undying_Councillor04-04-06, 08:04 AM | I haven't been able to dowload the Mark for April and summarily contacted the RPGA HQ e-mail address as directed. However, the message has bounced back with 'invalid e-mail address'. I've now sent the message to the RPGA Events Sanctioning address and will let you know if I get any response. I'm slated to run it this weekend, so I'm hoping it can be resolved with only a few days until the event. |
| D_karr04-04-06, 11:57 AM | You know during Winter Fantasy I was excited about some of the comments made by Ian Richards, Keith Baker and Jesse Decker. It really seemed like RPGA HQ was aware of the many problems with the Mark of Heroes Campaign and were working to solve them. My excitement grew after Winter Fantasy as I saw that we had Mark of Heroes DM's Mark adventures all the way to May. That was a major change. It was even more exciting that I was able to get the March DM's Mark without any problems... Man, things were going great. (Regardless of reporting problems with Winter Fantasy) Then April rolls around and we are once more going back to the same problems as before. What is it going to take? Will RPGA HQ get their act together? |
| Shadowed Intent04-05-06, 06:57 PM | as far as I can tell there's nothing preventing us from writing and running a DM's Mark and reporting the results even if they don't upload the packet. I just wish I had seen this before I canceled my game day. I think it's a great idea, and the obvious solution. Now I have rescheduled my game day for later in the month. My intention is to run a DMs mark. If the packet shows up, I will try to work any story objects into the adventure. If the packet doesn't appear, oh well. We will still play, have a good time and the players will receive some xp and ev for the adventure. Tim Kelley's response to twoeyedjack DMs marks are written and run by the DM we don't write them. After considering Tim Kelley's response, I find that I completely agree. I already have a couple of ideas that I was tossing around. I just never considered not waiting for the story objects. Funny, I've created numerous adventures without story objects, why should I be helpless without them? The point I am trying to make is, yes it could be better, however, this is better than the nothing we have had previously. I believe this is a big step forward. I was one of the people who were irritated that the RPGA couldn't even put out DM's Marks. If this is all they can do, I can accept it. After all, they are giving us an opportunity to play, and I intend to take the opportunity. |
| Redbeard8804-05-06, 08:20 PM | The following are my encounters with Tim and RPGA Sanctioning concerning the April DMs Mark: My first e-mail to Wizards Help - "I created an event for a Mark of Heroes campaign and attempted to dowload the DM's Mark for April, but I recieved the following error: The file for Scenario DMH091EMH.zip could not be found. Please contact rpgahq@wizards.com I followed the error message suggestion and sent an e-mail to rpgahq@wizards.com, but the e-mail bounced! Help! I have a game coming up soon." Wizards Help response - "We apologize for the confusion. The RPGAHQ e-mail address is no longer active. Please submit your e-mail to rpgasanctioning@wizards.com Thank You." I then sent my original message to RPGA sanctioning. Here is Tim Kelley's response - "This is an Ebberon adventure. The Ebberon adventure is purchased from a retail establishment. You are ordering a placeholder that is used for results entry when the game is over. Tim Kelley RPGA Event and Organizer Coordinator FAX 425-254-2987" And finally my last, unanswered response to Tim - "Tim, Thanks for the quick response, but I believe you may have misunderstood my dilemma. The Description listed in my original e-mail is not a retail purchase. Here is the listing as is from the RPGA website: Scenario: DMH091EMH - DMH-9 April 2006 DM's Mark Rules Code: EMH - Eberron: Mark of Heroes - D&D Campaigns Reward Points: 4 Players can only play once in this adventure. Multiple participation to the same adventure will be invalidated. Description DM's Mark for the Mark of Heroes Campaign. Optimized for 8th-level characters. I've downloaded many DM Marks in the past months in the same manner and never had any problems. Everyone on the RPGA, Mark of Heroes board has stated the same problem. Here is a link to the thread: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=602913 It seems that the zip file is missing for anyone that orders the April DM's Mark and/or the link is wrong. Further help is needed and would be greatly appreciated as many game masters are being left in the dark here. Thanks again" I have received no further response. Obviously, Tim Kelley doesn't have a clue about ordering scenarios or how the DM Mark adventures work. Is there someone out there that can help us?? Redbeard |
| DBlizzard04-05-06, 08:40 PM | After considering Tim Kelley's response, I find that I completely agree. I agree with the statement. It's 100% accurate. I don't agree with him giving that statement. Acceptable statements: 1) We don't know why it isn't showing up, we'll look into it. 2) There are no story objects for that DMs Mark. Just design something and run it. 3) Unfortunately, we don't have time to fix this problem. Just run it without a story object. However, his response shows that he either doesn't understand how the campaign works (or at least, has been working) or else is unconcerned with what the RPGA membership thinks (which fits the responses we have gotten from RPGA headquarters). |
| Moody Loner04-06-06, 01:19 PM | Downloaded it this morning: Scenario Download for ZCU406CA Please click on each link below in order to download the zip files for your convention. DMH091EMH DMH-9 April 2006 DM's Mark 276 K Back to Member |
| D_karr04-06-06, 03:22 PM | Yep, I just downloaded it also. A little bit late, but not impossible to fix. Maybe the RPGA is turning around after all. Thanks to whoever it was that fixed this. |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi04-10-06, 03:58 PM | Anyone know yet if the May DM's Mark is okay? |
| D_karr04-10-06, 06:44 PM | Anyone know yet if the May DM's Mark is okay? I think that it's still too early to know. You can order it but you won't be able to download it until later in the month. So at this time it would be impossible to tell. |
| grahamdrew04-10-06, 06:46 PM | I think that it's still too early to know. You can order it but you won't be able to download it until later in the month. So at this time it would be impossible to tell. You can download the modules three weeks before the event which (if you scheduled the DM's Mark for May 1st) would be... today. I think that's what has prompted the question. Andrew Beard |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi04-11-06, 01:12 AM | That would be why - and if it is screwed up then we all start the emails early (whatever good that they do) then maybe we'll get this fixed prior to the 1st of May |
| qstor04-11-06, 08:14 AM | I ordered a May DM's Mark for the 1st week of May but I can't download it. Mike |
| grahamdrew04-11-06, 01:49 PM | I ordered a May DM's Mark for the 1st week of May but I can't download it. Mike When you say you can't download it, are you saying you get the download link but the file can't be found? Andrew Beard |
| Jojobunny04-11-06, 11:17 PM | I ordered the May DM's Mark, as we are planning on writing a big adventure for an upcoming convention--not just for a Saturday home game or a passing amusement for some pals. We have people who will be laying out hard-earned money to come and play this and other RPGA events. Based on my order, the packet was downloadable as of today....and it comes up listed as missing. I was really counting on seeing it, as we need to be done with our writing by the end of April because of work commitments on the two weekends before our show in May. <sigh> <rant on> I'm so tired of the RPGA. Out here in the bustling northeast region, we bust our butts at 5 major conventions each year to offer well-organized and exciting slates of events for RPGA players--with little or no help from the RPGA (other than the folks in Con Support, who rule!). And that's fine, because we really don't need their help. But the fact that you can't get problems addressed without a huge run-around and pulling out handfuls of your own hair is just unacceptable. I'm not a 16 year old kid playing D&D in my basement; I'm a successful 40+ year old adult who, FOR NO COMPENSATION, brings my organizational skills and connections to create play experiences based around RPGA campaigns--campaigns that necessitate that players own certain books and that should create the desire in players to own more books. But with every show we do, there are more and more problems, stresses, and disappointments. It's gotten to the point where the "regular" RPGs, and especially all of the new indie RPGs, are attracting way more players than RPGA events. We've already dropped two campaigns from our offerings and cut another down to practically nothing; a few more bad experiences, and I may be out of a volunteer position! I guess I better start reading up on some of those indie games; they'll probably be looking for extra help soon at this rate. Hey, somebody at the RPGA--ANYBODY at the RPGA--are you reading this stuff???? Probably not. <rant off> If the packet becomes available anytime soon, I'll post and let everyone know. Disappointed, Distressed, and Disgusted  |
| Madfox1104-13-06, 04:49 AM | You don't need the document to write the adventure, run it and report it. You might miss out on those special rewards, but I have played several official adventures with none of those. Is it sloppy that there is none? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No. |
| Jojobunny04-17-06, 06:14 PM | finally became available on Saturday. There are two story objects, one of which turns out to be extremely important to the scenario we are writing, so we're EXTREMELY happy to have it in time to put everything together. :) Jo |
| drDRFAUSTUS04-30-06, 12:37 AM | Are we allowed to ask about the content of MARKS on this board? I misdownloaded by mark packet. I openned it up on the web and read it instead of actually downloading it. As I was reporting it tonight, I realized that I do not have access to the Certification Codes anymore. Could some one please PM me the two certification codes so that I can report the errors. I assume I should report the error to rpasanctioning instead of customer service. Please correct me if I am wrong. |
| drDRFAUSTUS05-01-06, 04:15 PM | no love from the board. Well, I emailed RPGASANCTIONING with the dilemma. Lets see what kind of help I can get from the official source. The easiest thing to do next time is, of course, just not to make a mistake :) |
