I've got an idea for an undead hunter character, but I don't know if I want to use that for my MoH character since he'd be so specialized. I think an undead hunter is problematic in Eberron. Between the elves with their Undying ancestors and the widespread acceptance of necromancy and undead in one of the human kingdoms (Karnath?), I think an undead hunter would have problems. Ed |
| Slyde Shadowdart08-16-05, 11:53 AM | Yeah, I wasn't thinking of the elves. I was thinking more along the traditional lines of "zombie, wight, skelly, etc.". That would create an interesting double standard, wouldn't it? "You hate undead right?" "Yeah, they suck." "So...could you kill one of the undying court?" "Um, no, they're okay." :D So question revision: Are the standard undead present as monsters in MoH? |

I would hope that authors will work with the unique features of the campaign setting instead of relying on the same old undead, but I have no inside information on the subject. Ed |

However, as a member of the Digger's Union, you may feel obligated to observe the Galifar Code and will not kill (even undead) unless you are given provocation. Note: This post assumes that the Galifar Code says something to the effect that a murder in cold blood is illegal. I don't know that it says that, but I'm going to assume it, so there. Edit: I recently found out that undead have no rights under the Galifar Code. Go figure. |

There are still Karnn battallions stationed on the Talenta/Valenar border... either group may well have active Undead Hunters. There's also a place in Eberron for undead hunters in the military of Karnnath itself. The Emerald Claw is an outlaw organization these days, and the Karnn policymakers are likely to frown upon the more radical Blood of Vol folks in the EC freeing military undead (or creating free-willed undead that don't serve the Karnn military). Your character could be like a "Blade Runner", that is... they hunt down rogue free-willed undead or "retire" unlicensed necromancers. I think it's extremely unlikely that a MoH character (or any non-Aerenal PC) is likely to even meet an Undyring Court positive-energy undead creature (and may not even know they exist), so the question of the moral issue is moot. The main thing would be, your undead hunter wouldn't be able to just go around attacking any undead they see (which I'm not saying they would!)... but that's Eberron for you. Yeah, I wasn't thinking of the elves. I was thinking more along the traditional lines of "zombie, wight, skelly, etc.". That would create an interesting double standard, wouldn't it?
