in the article describing the Child of Vulkoor campaign card it says that drow have a level adjustment of +1. Is this going to reflect some statistical difference between eberronian drow and classic drow or is it just a typo?

The SRD entry for Drow states that their LA is +2, but that the CR of a Drow with
PC levels is (# of Levels +1), and though I know its not the MM, it is close enough
for rock & roll.

I'm no expert, but a cursory examination of the Drow's physical traits does make
them look like they're on a par with hobgoblins, which do have LA +1.

If its a typo, its a minor one, since a PC Drow made with this card would have
an effective LA of +1, given that CR and cumulative character levels for humanoids
are roughly equivalent.

Hi guys,

I have a query regarding the Campaign Cards that concerns me a little. It is especially regarding the Dragonmarked "Heir of..." and the new "Child of Vulkoor" cards. I know that it makes good marketing sense to have them as special attractions to the large conventions, but I can't fail to notice that it is only the US conventions that they are offered at. For the average Australian player, this could be a little frustrating.

Is it possible that such cards are included in later sets for D&D Rewards? Or can only those attending US conventions get them?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

The Promo card should appear at all Winter Fantasy Expanded Preimere locations. If you can't make it to one of those then there is always eBay.

Is it perfectly within RPGA guidelines to offer Campaign Cards for sale on eBay? I would have thought that such actions would have been frowned upon?

Frowned upon? I'm sure.

A common occurance, yes.

Once the cards are in the recipients hands, unlike old time LC/LG certs,
WOTC has no say on what is done with them.

I'd never spend money on them, but many do.

ya there is not much the RPGA can do if people want to sell these on ebay. its been going on since the LGR cards a year ago or so.

they should have promo cards at most major cons (including spring revel but maybe not..could ask them to see if they'll get some)

the only card tho that is out right now for xendrik expeditions is the child of vulkoor. there will be more i know this tho i do not know what.

Why would they care if people sell the cards on ebay? Good grief, in a set of 9 cards I got 4 duplicates!!! What on earth am I going to do with 4 of the same creation card? Create 4 of the same character (when only 2 are permitted)?

Actually, the more cards in circulation, the more interest in the campaign. I think the RPGA would do well to find ways to get *more* cards out. Think about it--why would I want to join a table of players who have all these cards giving them special abilities, while I have none? In fact, the second worst part of MoH is the chokehold on the Dragonmarked house cards--this is a central aspect of Eberron, and it's reserved only for those who can shell out $500 or more (in my case it would take a lot more) to go to a con...I agree with the idea of rewarding the loyal customer, but I'm frustrated about how it works out.

How about this--give me a special card for owning all the Eberron books! How 'bout that? There's a perfectly logical relationship--I spend lots of money on their products, they reward me with "Heir of ________" card. Or maybe every $10 I spend in real life gives my character 1000 GP! :D

I'm actually disappointed I can't interest more people in trading the cards. I have a bunch I'd trade, and maybe some that other people might want. Never mind the ebay cash cow--help a fellow MoH player out here!

Well, if I had any cards, I'd be willing to trade them.

Especially the House Phiarlan one, which I'll never see as it was a promo.

Unless I can get away with spending $200 on cards on eBay without Mrs. Moody murdering me. Justifiably, I may add.

It seems like one of the big problems is that ANY card that's LG legal is worth about 5x more than a Mark of Heroes only card. LG players are willing to pay a lot more. Missed Me and Right Scroll for the Job (two of the ones I know you're looking for) tend to have a much greater percieved value because they're usable in Living Greyhawk.

save for the drow also getting SR, 120ft DV, and spell-likes as well (and not 0lvl ones like a gnome)...which is why they are and should be LA+2 as compared to the hobgoblins LA+1.

CR and EL are two very different things.

3rd lvl human PC = 2nd lvl hobgoblin PC = 1st lvl drow PC is how it SHOULD work according to the MM and SRD. Although CR wise the above human is the higher CR (3), with the hobgoblin and drow being equal (2).

Did one have to play a certain adventure or set of adventures to get the Child of Vulkoor card? I just played at the Winter Weekend Extended Premier at Theocracy by the Bay in California last weekend and saw neither hide nor hair of it.

Nope, they were just sitting at the RPGA HQ table in a stack along with the Bane of My Enemies promo card and one of the dragonmarked house promo cards at Winter Fantasy. They didn't have a big sign or anything, but you could just go and pick one up. That said, they were pretty easy to miss if someone didn't mention them to you.

This was all at Winter Fantasy, though. I can't speak for the extended premires.

I know that last year they had a bunch of MoH cards that they were giving away simply for attending - did you ask any of the staff about it?

I'd point out that the "Child of Vulkoor" card is NOT a Mark of Heroes campaign card.

It is for the upcoming Xen'drik Expeditions campaign.

So no, you can't currently make a drow in MoH, even if you did get this promo card.

Well, a number of folks at Winter Fantasy did think they were for MoH. It's not suprising as they look almost identical to the MoH cards.

Wow, this is the first I'd heard of that mistake.

I guess it pays to put those ranks into Spot after all.

I hope that the Mark of Heroes Reward cards will be usable in the Xen'driks campaign seeing as how they are both in the same Campaign Setting. I would like to get some use out of all these cards that I have collected.

I hope that they do as well since I really don't want to see another batch of Promo Dragonmarked Cards.

Unfortunately they did not give TbtB a stack of promo cards this year.

I asked the organizers, and they said that the RPGA sent them nothing of the sort in terms of RPGA Rewards cards. I'm going to try the Knowlege Base and see how that goes.

And the official word from the RPGA is . . .

I'm SOL.

Kenneth,

I have heard back from the RPGA on this and they say you are mistaken, the RPGA never touted that the Campaign Cards would be at the extended premiere events.
