DMs Mark questions [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-22-05, 02:46 PM I was wondering if it was OK to use some of the existing mods for the DMs Mark? E.g. the pre-packaged Eberron mods or the downloadable ones from the WotC D&D site.

Also, can someone who GMs a DMs Mark play in someone else's DMs Mark?

03-23-05, 03:31 PM Yes. You could do that. However, the pre-package store bought scenarios are already available for reward points. I would recommend that if you are going to run one of those, you order it that way. As for those adventures in the archives on the D&D site, they are fair game. Keep in mind though that they are public access and have been for quite awhile. Generally, anything that doesn't violate the standards is good to run. But each DM's Mark Adventure comes with story object you can work into your scenario. That maybe difficult with an adventure not written for that specific purpose. Though not impossible.

And yes, you can play in a DMs Mark Adventure written by someone else, and still run your own. At least that is how it's suppose to work. We'll see if it actually is. Remember that the reason DMH2 was delayed, was for a database update. Which presumably was to take care of this very issue.

03-23-05, 04:48 PM Anything that I got 'pre-written" would be modified from the original to some degree. I might use the plot hooks, NPCs, maps, etc., but change the monsters, treasure, and traps.

DMs who run DM's Marks adventures are disqualified from playing in any, like any other module. Granted, this isn't the way it's supposed to work but aparently the tracking system treats them as any other module, so you eat the mod. I found out last week (when I didn't pick up anything for the DM's Mark I played in), and a couple people in the Yahoo group chimed in when I mentioned it.

All requests to the RPGA play history guys have gone unanswered. TimRat, can you poke someone into action here?

So, if what Grahamdrew is saying is accurate, that means that you are being excluded from other DM's Mark adventures if you run one. That sucks :(

I just played my first two games of MoH today, and had a ton of fun. Two tough adventures for sure. I'd love to write up a GM's Mark adventure to run locally for folks, but I'd also sure like to play in them... Since there's only 2 MoH adventures out, we're kinda stuck doing GM's Mark adventures for a while ;)
