| Mike Czaplinski04-12-06, 06:07 PM | .... But the continuing slooooooow mod release rate of MoH mods, (abetted by a completely arbitrary schedule of 'Extended Premiers' that make mods much less available than they should be), combined with the tardy reporting of 2 or 3 MoH tables I played at WF 06 (nearly 2 months and no sign of them showing up) has completely oured me on any desire to play any further RPGA D&D Campaigns. Which is big shame, since I have been a big supporter of the Eberron campaign setting and even MoH before now. I make an exception for Living Greyhawk, because it is not run by the RPGA, and is therefore responsive to the desires and complaints of its participants. But, frankly, I doubt that the upcoming Xen'drik Expeditions will be any better run than MoH has been, and therefore it really doesn't seem worth my time to continue to invest any more energy in trying to play something that I will not give me any regular (or even semi-regular) play opportunities, and fewer essentially wothless 'reward points', which give you cards that are useable only in a campaign that you never get the chance to play. Like I said: not that anyone in the RPGA seems to care, given the resounding silence that has greeted numerous others members with complaints similar to mine. I really want to think that way, Madfox. I really do. But: given that the same complaints that I heard about LGR (a campaign, to be fair, I never played because I absolutely loathe the Forgotten Realms setting) have been repeated in MoH (namely, slow mod release rate, wild innacuracy in online reportage, slow rules updates etc.), I am not inclined to give the RPGA the benefit of the doubt. They have already shown that they don't learn from past mistakes by not only re-creating them, but amplifying them. I grant that they are trying to learn good lessons from the sucessful RPGA campaigns, but given that the upcoming campaign will have some input from volunteers, the ultimate arbiters of what the campaign will become is still the RPGA itself, not from a corps of dedicated volunteer a la the LG Circle. Given my nearly non-existant level of confidence in the RPGA's ability as stated above (and for a couple of other reasons, including a specific complaint about a particular MoH mod I played at WF; interestingly this was one of the mods that has yet to be reported on my character tracker), I can't find it in my heart to give them any slack in the matter, much as I would dearly love to thanks to my love of the Eberron setting. As for the LG, you do realize that all Core scenarios are checked by RPGA HQ as well and that in that regard Xendrik will be EXACTLY the same as LG, including a contract with the Faction Masters to publish a minimum amount of adventures (and yes, the LG Circle has such a contract for Cores)? All it is missing is a regional level which is indeed under full control of local vollunteers. |

But, the continued track record of poor performance has really soured me, and even if they hired Pamela Anderson/Nikki Cox/Jenny McCarthy/Monica Bellucci/Melissa Theriau/<*FILL IN THE BLANK AS APPROPRIATE TO YOUR TASTE AND ORIENTATION*> to hand deliver the mods to me and give me a backrub while I run it, I don't know that I could maintain any level of enthusiasm. And in the interest of full disclosure: the remaining MoH results from WF 06 have finally been posted to my tracker. MikeC |
