| wavecutter11-03-05, 12:49 AM | Is anyone on these forums using any of the available programs to play official games over the net? |
| CyberGaston11-03-05, 10:38 AM | I don't think it's allowed. You have to meet physically to play a registered game at a convention, at a retail store or at home only. These are the only choice when registering a game meeting. |
| wavecutter11-03-05, 10:43 AM | Well it is allowed in some cases I know of. For instance in the official greyhawk you can only play core modules online. Where does your information derive from? |
| Wavester11-03-05, 11:09 AM | D&D Campaigns cannot be played online. This has been posted in many places on this list. Also the campaign rules do not say you can play games online thus you cannot. |
| wavecutter11-03-05, 11:52 AM | I disagree, since the rules don't mention it my interpretation is that they can be played online. |
| wavecutter11-03-05, 11:58 AM | Furthermore, Greyhawk can be played online as long as only core modules are played. Wavester, seeing how you are a senior GM I'd think you would already know that. |

Yes I do already know that chief since I was the one who wrote the rule in the LGCS that specifically says you can play Core mods online. No such rule exists for the D&D Campaigns (Legacy of the Green Regeant and Eberron: Mark of Heroes) and thus you cannot. See simple. |
| kenobi6511-03-05, 01:13 PM | Just to clarify: Whether or not a particular RPGA campaign allows online play is a decision that's been left to the management of each individual campaign; there is no overall RPGA rule on the matter. And, I think that the default answer is "it's not allowed", unless the individual campaign says otherwise. Since you posted this question in the Mark of Heroes forum, the initial answer you got ("no") is correct...because the context in which you asked the question was assumed to be Mark of Heroes. - The two "D&D Campaigns" (Mark of Heroes, Legacy of the Green Regent) do not allow online play at all. - Living Greyhawk allows online play, but only for Core modules (no Regionals, no Metaregionals, no Core Specials). - All the other Living Campaigns (Living Force, Living Arcanis, Living Death, Living Kingdoms of Kalamar, Living Spycraft) place no particular restrictions on online play. |
| wavecutter11-03-05, 01:24 PM | Ok, this is all much clearer now. I appreciate the more detailed feedback. You are correct in assuming that I was reffering to MoH. I do however have a slight problem. Because no rule exists to support online play I would appreciate if someone could point me to the guidance that states that if no rule exists to support online play, it is then forbidden. By the way it's "wavecutter" not "chief" Also, once that's out of the way I would like to begin to change that. If someone could perhaps point me in the right direction as far as who to contact and such, that would be highly appreciated. |
| Wavester11-03-05, 02:20 PM | Wavecutter is not your name anymore then chief is. I call everybody chief. Covers the fact I am horrible with names LOL. There are not rules for everything. Just does not make sense. The rules that are out go over exactly what you are allowed to do. If they do not say you can then you cannot. Much easier that way. The no online play is a Wotc OP decision. You can try charging that tower but I would suggest saving your time. Many have tried and they have not moved one inch on it. I expect it will probably be that way for a long while. |
| wavecutter11-03-05, 02:59 PM | Thanks for the info. |
