Possible problem? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-24-05, 01:01 AM On the Mark of Heroes yahoo group some people have raised a couple of issues following the level kick and the GenCon modules.

1) was any gold or XP given out for the GenCon DM's mark? Some people are reporting that people who played all four available modules end up with exactly the same level and EV as people who played the XMH and EMH modules but missed the DM's Mark.

2) is it possible that the level kick might have caused problems with people who played modules at GenCon? Some people have reported that the kick is listed after the modules in their play history and are questioning their level and EV. I played EMH-7 and EMH-8 and now am still level 4 (and we did everything right/well as far as we could tell) and have an EV of around 7000gp. Should I have expected to level after playing those two modules or would I probably be a bit short?

Any word yet on the GM pack from Gencon? I just checked my account again and the GM pack is still worth zero GP. And it does show up as being played. Thanks Ken Walz.

09-07-05, 08:29 PM I'll be interested to see the official answer. I played all the GenCon events (Emh6 and 7, DMs mark, and the special). I'm shown as level 6 with a GP value of 10500.

09-08-05, 08:44 PM There is no mistake in regards to the modules and all that. some modules there are parts that are weighed more heavily and if you dont do that right then you dont get the rewards/xp.

my group didn't do the right thing in the special thus we didn't get most of the rewards but such is life :)

as far as the DMs mark they are looking into but i would email sanctioning again as customer service has gone to HQ telling them abotu this. now make sure you mention its the DM's mark and not the modules as the modules are right.

So are they going to fix it so you don't get screwed by playing the Gen Con modules in slot zeroes and posting them before the level bump?

09-09-05, 09:23 AM My wife zeroed two of the games with me (she had only played a single Mark of Heroes games prior) and she has the exact amount of gp that Herrbard said he has.

At least you guys got credit for playing - I haven't been able to bring the RPGA's attention to my Play history problem for the two MoH games I zeroed.

Thats what HQ has said and just because its entered in before some of the modules doesn't mean there is a mess up. some of these mods (or at least one) that i know of just didn't have a lot of xp/gp to it so that may be why some think they didnt get enough.

But the level bump is showing up after the slot zeroes in my character history. I level bumped to 4th, played 3 modules at Gen Con and am 5th. There are people who made 6th level prior to the level bump just from playing the two Origins modules.

09-10-05, 12:28 AM Just to clarify my earlier post: Three of my events were slot 0s as well. I played the special at GenCon. Yes, my slot 0s are shown as recorded before the level bump, but I believe I got credit for them, as I don't see how the special alone would get me to sixth level.

I do understand that different groups get different XP depending on what they did in the module (i.e., did you kill this monster, or did you talk your way out, or did you sneak by and not deal with it etc., just to give some generic examples).

I really have no complaint (other than the fact that there are no DMs marks and new mods to play ;) ). I'm just following this to see how things are worked out.
