Questions of a new RPGA DM... [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-27-05, 09:10 PM I was looking through the Scenario Selection for something to run August 7th, for level 1 characters which I plan to run at home, and there was only Finding the Way. An adventure developed for third level characters. If I ran this for a bunch of Level one characters they would all die wouldn't they?

Also im worried about the selection of adventures. My friends planned on alternating DMing here at my house and we would just select different adventures so we could play more than once a month, however with only one adventure available for the Mark of Heroes Campaign, I don't see how thats possible.

07-27-05, 09:56 PM I've just DMed it and it's ajustable for 2nd to 5th level characters but not for 1st level. It would need a little work from your part, if you want to run it !!!!

07-27-05, 10:40 PM Due to the level bumps (the first of which happens in just about 3 weeks) the adventures retire very quickly from play. The only games that you have missed out on aside from the special games that can never be ordered for anything other then a big convention are EMH-1 Reflections of the Multiverse and EMH-2 Pirate's Bounty and the Isle of Fire. That said the DM's Marks which have been available almost every month since March / April happen each month (the one for August is due out any day now) but they retire at the end of each month (but the way you are talking you probably are just looking for a lock and load ready to go adventure so you wouldn't be very interested in the DM's Marks). Use the Adventure Summaries menu option on the RPGA main page to find out the dates that certain adventures are available.

07-27-05, 11:06 PM So it looks like the only adventure that I can even be a part of is 'Finding the Way', as well as one DM's Mark Game. So thats only good for two weeks in August. So I'll just have to order that one and bring it down a bunch so they can deal with it at level one, and then wait for the DM's Mark to come out and one of the other guys can run that, and then I have to wait until September to do anything again with Mark of Heroes?

07-29-05, 11:39 AM Don't forget about the level bump. As of about August 15, any new players will automatically start at 4th level with 5000 GP. So if you wanted, you could easily play a DM's Mark now, then play Finding the way after the level bump. That way, you can run the event as written, and still be sure your player's won't be too under-powered to survive.
