| GenerallyUnique02-20-06, 05:43 PM | I was very excited when I got the campaign card Shaper of the Soul Mist. I finally got to use Incarnum in an RPGA event. Only not. Has anyone looked that the new campaign standards? All of the three base classes are restricted. What the hell? The card says it only unlocks non-restricted items, so that means that the book and the card are both pretty much worthless because I can't use any of the classes. Oh, but if I want to take three feat slots up I can give my fighter a soulmeld with +2 to climb. Yey. What's the deal with this? |

"When you take a class, prestige class, or racial substitution level, it unlocks all rules items associated with it. For example, if you use "Off the Beaten Path" Campaign Card to take levels in warmage, it unlocks all the spells on the warmage list." |

They use the same wording on People of Mind, Matter, of Radiance (the Kalashtar card) and it's been clarified in the Campaign Standards. The Campaign Standards also list starting gold for Incarnum character with a footnote that it requires the card. The most important thing to note is if you go in the character tracker you can select the three Incarnum classes in the creaion card dropdown box. If I were running the table, I would let you play it in a heartbeat (well, after you explained the Incarnum rules to me). The intent of the card is pretty clear to me, reguardless of the wording. The problem isn't the rules items associated with the class, it's taking the restricted class in the first place. Andrew Beard |
