Your only chance to find out how the story line ends is to attend the convention (or an extended convention)? This does not seem fair to someone who might have put a lot of time and effort into the mods but does not go to that many conventions. psgj |

My home Mark of Heroes group is always griping, as they can't afford to get to big conventions (bunch of poor college students). But they have enjoyed all the available adventures to this point, and we'll be running the last two in January, and they'll just be content with that. However, if it WERE to become available.... But not holding my breath or anything. |
| ajpopp12-31-06, 06:29 PM | Just another example of the shafting the RPGA gives to home players. A small window of time to play adventures, IF they're even available. And major story line wrap-ups are for convention-goers only...that's why I'm bailing out of the whole thing. But since I'm a worthless "home gamer," who's gonna miss me anyway? |
| clem01-01-07, 04:03 AM | Just another example of the shafting the RPGA gives to home players. Heck, I usually play at local game days and I'm in the same boat. I really hope we don't find ourselves in the same situation when the time comes for Xen'drik Expeditions to wrap up its storyline. After all, Mark of Heroes and XE are the reasons I've purchased as many Eberron books as I have. I don't regret the purchases, but I sure regret being treated as though I wasn't enough of a revenue stream. |
| Sieylianna01-01-07, 12:17 PM | And since they haven't determined whether the Extended Premier program will continue this year, you may be limited to a single con to play. Of course, since the campaign is ending and things have been such a mess, I probably won't bother to play it even if I go to Winter Fantasy. That's the lack of commitment engendered by the D&D campaigns approach. Ed |

At this point it doesn't seem like XE will have the same issue with plot-intensive modules being con-exclusive. XE seems to have done away with the "Specials" category entirely. I'm planning on attending Winter Fantasy (or whatever it's called now) this year, and will try to put up a recap for those that are unable to play the last mod. Andrew Beard |

I don't believe any announcement has been made about its availability beyond it premiering at DDXP. |
| pedr01-03-07, 01:04 PM | But to be fair, none of the previous specials have been available except to the extended premiere sites, in any campaign, except for the 'Origins' LG special's re-release in a home-play version. I'm usuallly of the 'let the RPGA sort things out and wait and see' camp, but in this instance there is considerable confusion over whether there will be an extended premiere program. I imagine that in the UK with its considerably smaller convention schedule if an announcement isn't made soon there simply wouldn't be a convention running during the window for the extended premieres. It's quite possible that whether or not a particular convention runs depends entirely on whether there's an extended premiere program to make it worth their while running one - most other RPGA play here takes place at gamedays and home play (I believe that there were four conventions last year where LG ran. One of those only existed because there was no GenCon UK, and was organised almost entirely to run the organised play that would have run at GenCon). I'm sure that an announcement is coming soon. But it would be very very useful if it could be before the RPGA members' meeting at D&D XP. Uncertainty's not good for anybody, particularly for the groups and companies we rely on to run conventions for us! |
| psgj01-03-07, 11:27 PM | You're making an assumption about the status of the adventure. I don't believe any announcement has been made about its availability beyond it premiering at DDXP. Yes I am. That assumption was based on the past history of XMH-1 through XMH-3, which were only available at the premiere convention or extended premiere. That was my understanding of what an XMH mod is. If this is not the case and XMH-4 will be available through home play then why label it a XMH mod rather than EMH-16? psgj |
| Aethan01-07-07, 12:38 AM | Heck, I don't even care about the reporting, the points, or what have you. I'd just like to know how the story ends. And I'd love my players to have a chance to finish their stories, as it were, since they've been playing from the beginning. - Andy |
| Wrathamon01-15-07, 10:23 PM | I would love to be able to run the XMH adventures for my Home game even if it is a year afterwards. |
| ajpopp02-17-07, 08:12 PM | Boy, this is still sticking in my craw. I played MoH from the beginning, and now I have to make at least a 600 mile trip to play the finale (which, obviously, I'm not). Chris, you have the oppportunity to rectify some serious deficiencies in the RPGA. I played a couple Xen'drik Expeditions adventures, but I've since bailed out...I'm not willing to risk getting shafted again. And massage the information however you want, but when you offer a campaign and then prohibit the majority of participants from the ending, you are giving them the shaft. While it's technically "free" to play, with books and travel and all else (not to mention time) it's not really free. And everyone knows it. If you want us to commit to these games, then honor our commitment. If someone gave me tickets to see Spider-Man the movie, and they stopped the film with 20 minutes to go, I would be ticked. If the person gave me tickets to Spider-Man 2 and they did it again, I would be ripping mad. And guess what would happen when they gave me tickets to Spider-Man 3? That is the equivalent of what the RPGA has done with Green Regent and Mark of Heroes. I had long looked forward to playing my Dwarf Necromancer in every MoH adventure. But I've had the rug pulled out from under me. I agree with Andrew--I don't care about the points or all that. I wanted to be a part of the finale. I've said it before on these boards, but I'll just mention it again. I'm the driving force behind at least 6 other people playing in the D&D Campaigns. Since I've bailed out, none of those others have played a single RPGA game. A local second-year con had asked me to head up an RPGA section, and I was willing at one time. Now I'm not at all interested, and they haven't yet to my knowledge found anyone to head up RPGA games. This may all be "acceptable losses" for the RPGA. But I hope not, because frankly, I'm taking this a bit personally. And for what it's worth, I also haven't bought another Eberron book since I quit XE. It's not a protest of any sort, it's just that MoH and XE were the driving forces behind my purchase of the books. I'd hazard I'm not an isolated case. So, I hope the players are enjoying XMH-4 even now, and I hope that I can get in touch with someone who will tell me how it all turned out. Then I can daydream about how Thorak Stonebrother would have been a part of the Diggers greatest triumph (I hope). |
| grahamdrew02-17-07, 10:27 PM | I was actually trying to post an update to this thread a few hours ago from the hotel but my connection cut out. Chris promised in the RPGA member's meeting that the Mark of Heroes finale would be release for home play, despite being an XMH. I asked about a timeframe and he was shooting for a spring release, but couldn't commit to a date. |
| ajpopp02-19-07, 11:37 AM | Graham, thanks for the update. That's great news! It gives me hope for XE. Do you have other good news to share from the members' meeting? |
| grahamdrew02-19-07, 12:28 PM | Graham, thanks for the update. That's great news! It gives me hope for XE. Do you have other good news to share from the members' meeting? There's a pretty good overview of the members' meeting here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=11524020 |
| Southernskies02-26-07, 03:10 AM | XMH-4 is available in the system for order from 1st May 07. Doesn't show up on the search yet, you need to click the link from an existing XP convention. |
| Borris02-28-07, 11:19 PM | Wonderful! Amy 1st may be a very long way to go, but my Mark of Heroes players will be glad to hear they'll have a chance to see how the campaign was supposed to end. They keep asking me for more MoH adventures. I just don't know what to tell them anymore. |
| Wrathamon03-26-07, 08:02 PM | I still havent been able to order it? Has anyone been able to? |
| Kelvane03-27-07, 03:39 PM | I don't think it will be made available till after the extended premiers. |
| Aethan04-07-07, 03:33 PM | It's available now. |
