1001 Alternate Animals [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-08-06, 10:16 PM I am running an... odd game. One where evolution runs out of control due to the highly magical rain. I don't want to create all new creatures for my campaign, but to create alternates, creatures with the same statistics, but a different form.

1) (Idea taken from Dungeon) Calderians. Calderians are small shadowlike forms that move through the sky. They often move in swarms, and energy consumed by one is transfered to all the swarm. This is a two way street however, as pain in transfered as well.

07-09-06, 06:19 PM 2) Glorts A multisegmented beast, similar to a giant pillbug. However, it is not a vermin, and is quite intellegent (for a giant insect). It feeds on grass and lives in herds. A glort has an average of 20 legs. Replaces Bison.

07-09-06, 07:42 PM 3) Zsam. A floating, disembodied sack of flesh with a rudimentary birdlike face. Most of its body is made of invisible force, including its long tentacles.
Replaces: octopus.

4) Latyp. A rat with the head of a crab and odd crustaceous bits attached to its body. They tend to dig burrows next to rivers.
Replaces: platypus.

5) Glaz. A large, ugly swamp beast that resembles a giant, heavily armored tadpole with scaly skin and no arms or legs. Its entire head opens sideways into a toothy mouth. It swims rapidly in the water, and can slither on land a bit.
Replaces: crocodile.

6). Skreela. A floating bubble of protoplasm inside a transparent membrane. Visible organs and blood vessels are crowded inside. The flying sphere is covered in tiny cilia that act as echolocation organs. They fly at night, and eat insects or fruit by slaming into them.
Replaces: bat.

7). Udark. An ogre-sized, muscular humanoid with leathery skin, oversized claws, and the head of a shark.
Replaces: bear.

8) Actothor This creature has 4 legs, two of which branch off into two more feet, and a gaping mouth. It is covered in soft, moist flesh and has no visible head. a thin, stretchy umbilicul cord attatches them to the other creatures in the pack.
