| ADHadh07-27-07, 01:16 PM | You know you've always wanted to... #1. Make it epic. #2. Write Explosive Runes all over it. #3. Serve it as dinner. |
| SithGolem07-27-07, 01:23 PM | #4: PCs walk down a long corridor. They see a backpack. As soon as they reach it, a kobold sorcerer casts a fire spell. The sorcerer is above the PCs, in the ceiling, with a small hole to cast spells through. What is in the backpack? Gunpowder and/or alchemist's fire. |
| Sunic_Flames07-27-07, 02:41 PM | Pun-pun. |
| Draginja07-27-07, 07:42 PM | I'll give you a hint. It starts with "nin", and ends your life. Give up? It's a ninja! |
| aotrscommander07-27-07, 08:01 PM | #7 Make it epic and a terrible spoof. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=877626) If you're lucky, you'll kill your players too... |
| Shadowcastr07-27-07, 08:09 PM | Name it turbine and ask it to fix the lag. he wont just kill your party he will kill every other party running quests as well. Kudos on pun pun though |
| xXOblivionXx07-27-07, 08:24 PM | 9) one word, Templates:D |
| Thurbane07-27-07, 08:42 PM | 10.) Have it drop onto a PC from a heights of 200 feet or more. |
| Evilholyguy07-27-07, 09:24 PM | 11. Make it a talker and a realy boring talker So boring that it could kill if some1 fails a Will save of DC 30 :D |
| skydin07-27-07, 09:27 PM | c3p0 on star wars chess, would talk to someone until they actualy killed themselves... |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold07-28-07, 12:49 AM | Shoot it out of a catapault with powder kegs on its back and have a tindertwig in its mout |
| SirGog07-28-07, 03:01 AM | 10.) Have it drop onto a PC from a heights of 200 feet or more. ROFL, was going to write exactly that myself... |
| Thurbane07-28-07, 03:30 AM | 10.5) Have giants use them as ammunition when they run out of boulders...:D |
| JokerMatt99907-28-07, 11:29 AM | 11) Great Draconic Rite of Passage, and Sorceror levels. |
| Asra07-28-07, 02:06 PM | 12) Have the Kobold be Kurtulmak. |
| Phalo07-28-07, 02:59 PM | Have low level kobold sorcerer cast illusion or wall of force if a monk is in the party. (full out running monk hitting a illusion covered boulder or a wall of force makes a nice squishy sound. I did this to two different monks and a paladin in one adventure(2 gaming sessions) PCs never learn |
| Red Dragon07-28-07, 07:46 PM | 13) Booby traps. 14) Booby traps in narrow tunnels. 15) Booby traps in narrow tunnels that launch you towards other booby traps. 16). Regular traps in narrow tunnels that drop you into the deep Underdark. 17) Regular traps that launch you out of the caves. 18) Headfirst. They have that bonus to Craft (Trapmaking) for a reason, you know...... |
| Thurbane07-28-07, 09:01 PM | 19) Have the kobold infected with a particulary virulent and spell resistant strain of the Black Plague. 20) Run into the middle of the party and set off his Necklace of Missiles. 21) Have him upend a Bag of Holding full of Alchemists Fire on the party from a manhole in the ceiling. For good measure, he can then stick a Portable Hole into the Bag when he's done. 22) One level of Sorcerer, a potion of Invisibility, and a Wand of Summon Monster IV. "Where the heck are all these giant fiendish wasps coming from?" |
| Evilholyguy07-28-07, 09:56 PM | 23) claw his face off and wipe his butt with it :b: :b: :b: |
| OneWinged4ngel07-29-07, 02:39 AM | Man, there are so dang many ways... why isn't anyone using any of the good old fashioned kobold-y ones? Not a lot of time, but here's one that takes out a mid-level party member with simple, very low CR traps, and can work very reliably on less-than-incredibly-bright players. 24) The ubercharger tank is leading the party. Use a seperation wall trap. A kobold is at the other side of the room, and proceeds to plunk away at the PC with poison crossbow bolts from some cover (but not so secure that the PC can't charge them). The PC charges the kobold for 100 damage or whatever arbitrarily high number. To the player's dismay, the kobold has set ankle breakers (Can be as simple as a pole to stop chargers) and the character proceeds to fall forward... and break through the floor into a spiked pit trap with poison. The kobold then pulls down on a rope releasing a support in the ceiling and causing rocks to bury the player. If you've got a sorceror kobold leader (as many kobold tribes do), he can put something like a cloudkill down there or whatever to just make sure he dies. |
| Kesthol07-29-07, 02:16 PM | 25) A squad (numbering at least 1.5 times the party size) of kobold assassins on dire weasel mounts, using Con-affecting poisons. Between the blood drain and the poison, you could probably take out most PCs. "You get drained for... *:dice:* 2 points Con damage. You... *:dice:* get hit by a crossbow bolt, roll a Fort save... *:dice:* A thirteen? Take... *:dice:* 5 more points of Con damage. What are you at... 4 Con?" :D |
| smartasdan07-29-07, 04:09 PM | -Kobold is named chuck norris -kobold is named mr t -long hallway filled with darkness spell; portable holes on the ground; need i say more? |
| doink121207-29-07, 04:18 PM | I used to use kobold warlock riders. They used krenshars as mounts. Absolutely hilarious. - Kobold dimension doors into the party wizard... Gets kind of gooey and painful. |
| Grumman07-29-07, 11:49 PM | 30. Give it a spade and the home-ground advantage. |
| Mesiolan07-30-07, 12:05 PM | 31) Let the kobold be the cook of the tavern the PCs relax in. Have the local apothecary be his friend. 32) Give him high CHA, three levels more than the PC party, and the leadership feat. 33) The kobold SOR1 got access to a "suggestion" scroll and he just used it to save his hide... from the deadliest beast of the whole dungeon complex. Suggestion "protect me from harm", of course. 34) The old, feeble kobold named Yoda limps into the PCs camp, using a crutch. Suddenly, he stumbles, and his crutch "of the magi" breaks... deliberately. 35) CLE 1 of Kurtulmak (?), a bagpack full of nightsticks and a scroll of "blasphemy". 36) Very humiliating was a scene we had in 2nd ed. times. The PCs were defeated by BBEG - two PCs died, two fled, and two were taken prisoner. They were tortured by the very kobold who survived the PCs assault at the first dungeon level. The kobold paid them back what they did to his friends, marking them for life. After the PCs were rescued by the two PCs who fled earlier, the kobold was a recurring minor villain - he kept the equipment of the two PCs, including magic items. 37) Have a dungeon full of traps, and a very skilled sniper kobold with poisoned ammunition. Give him a huge DEX-bonus for INIT. The dungeon contains many long corridors, where he can shoot once and retreat, before the party can react. Have the PCs stumble into trap after trap while being sniped. |
| JellyPooga07-30-07, 12:14 PM | 38) Give the Kobold a pair of Ring Gates and a Guillotine |
| ank07-30-07, 11:42 PM | 39) Give a kobald a rod of many wands. Take three wands: Fireball, Fireball, and solid fog. Load the wands. Activate it as a full round action when PC's come into sight; all the wand automatically activate. They can't move more than 5 feet a turn, the area is 20' wide, and two fireballs at them a turn. Final step: Give said kobald an annoying laugh :P |
| Sildatorak07-31-07, 03:09 AM | 40) Combine said kobold with a pit trap and a crushing wall trap. corridor/pit/wall/kobold ======XXX^^K==== Kobold opens fire on the PC's as soon as they are withing darkvision range and then starts falling back. PC #1 charges into the pit trap, PC #2 jumps the pit trap into 18d6 no save damage. |
| Draginja07-31-07, 10:45 AM | 41) The kobold doesn't even have to be present. Throw the PC's in a dungeon. You ever play the old Prince of Persia game? The arcade one? I swear a kobold built that thing. |
| Steve_G07-31-07, 12:54 PM | All very good ideas! 41. Kobold wizard with the talisman of the sphere and the sphere of annihilation chillin' nearby. Bzzt! No more adventurers! 42. The single kobold is not the threat. It's the trap(s) he's holding the activation switch too. (variations of this have been posted, but it's a real killer) |
| ADHadh07-31-07, 03:53 PM | 25) A squad (numbering at least 1.5 times the party size) of kobold assassins on dire weasel mounts, using Con-affecting poisons. 4 Con?" :D Nice one, although I'd prefer a single kobold. All those made me regret that I have made PCs already meet a friendly kobold tribe and leave the area inhabited by those little bastards. I'll have to do my best with hobgoblins :/ Anyway, :bump:, those are golden. |
| Wauthan07-31-07, 04:25 PM | 43. The party unexpectantly encounters a poorly armed kobold while deep within a hellishly trapped dungeon. The kobold has an initial attitude of friendly, knows a safe way out and simply wants the PCs help to escape. The PCs however are just a few xp away from the next level. (Yes, this happened in one of my games. And yes, they all died horribly in that dungeon.) |
| ArgulFraster07-31-07, 07:26 PM | 44) "MELVIN'S MIGHTY MARBLES OF DOOM!" (beads from a Necklace of Fireballs +crazy kobold=ouch!) 45) Yin Yensine. Nuff said. |
| LordFlatulence08-01-07, 01:59 AM | 46) Give him enough levels in bard that he is vastly superior to the PCs, then make fun of them as he wollops them and runs off, singing awefully. 47) Give him levels in Barbarian, drop his intelligence as low as it goes, and have him wield, for no reason - The Annulus! Again, laugh at the PCs. 48) Just make the most broken Frenzied Berserker you can, just with a Kobold! 49) Make a Kobold sorceror who makes illusory terrain and spiked pit traps, then have him knock some walls of iron or walls of stone on top of the holes! |
| ADHadh08-02-07, 05:18 PM | 50. Give it the head of Vecna. :D :bump: |
| nightmaredragon08-06-07, 10:09 AM | 51. give him a bag of holding loaded with clockwork horrors 52. Single kobold, wearing trenchcoat lined with gunpowder and covered with caltrops. 53. Name said Kobold claymore. |
| Silver_Bulette08-06-07, 01:59 PM | 54: Feral Template kobold sneak attack! |
| Kraven_Redcloak08-06-07, 06:54 PM | Make them into a cohesive group under a single, competent Kobold commander, all the while being sure to balance out their strengths and weakness. Have the fighters trained to form a Falanx during combat and protect the magic users. Keep a couple of rogue's around with the craft skill (trapmaking) for quick improvised traps, keeping in mind to have a few better quality traps handy including magical ones. Invest in having one or two decent level Dragon Shaman's around for their aura abilities as well as a few beguilers and illusionist so that they can tamper with the landscape. For a single Kobold without a template dual class him with Sorcerer and one martial class (either fighter, monk, ranger, or swordsage) to limit his vulnerabilities in combat. Give him the true believer feat and the relic Enveloping Pit for situations where he's cornered. Equip him with the Draconic Grafts Frightful Crest, Metabolic Fire, and Resilient Scales then give him a Ring of Nine Lives, Robes of the Archmage (Black or Gray), Metalline Vampiric Dagger +2, Gnome, Human, and Elf Bane Great Spear of Sizing and Returning, Belt of Magnificience +6, Ring of Spell Turning, Gauntlet of Spell Storing, and Wings of Flying |
| Magius_Rerecros08-06-07, 08:54 PM | Pun-pun. No need to go on. The thread has been answered, thoroughly and completely. |
| Sunic_Flames08-07-07, 08:49 AM | No need to go on. The thread has been answered, thoroughly and completely. :D |
| BlackHalfDragon08-07-07, 12:12 PM | A kobold monk 20/sorcorer1/red dragon diciple 10 introduces the PCs to "dragon style kung fu" :dragon: + :monk: = |
| Evilholyguy08-14-07, 01:37 PM | 56: have him wear a pointy hat and shoot him out of a catapult :OMG! |
| Evilholyguy11-25-07, 09:55 AM | 57: have him take a dump while falling from 2 miles above the ground  |
| aikimiller11-25-07, 11:26 AM | 58. Give it the half dragon template, 6 levels of monk, and the feats leap attack, power attack, and flying kick. I actually almost TPKed a party of 5 5th level characters this way. The druid got knocked down by a lucky crit, the cleric went down second, and at this point the party was so spread out and disorganized there was nothing they could do to stop him in time. For some reason, my party can thrash encounters 2 or 3 times their level, unless it includes Kobolds. |
| Ecalsneerg11-25-07, 01:09 PM | 59. Make it carry a load of splash weapons. When it dies, the explosion should kill the PCs. Especially if you use templates to give it an obscene strength, and load 'er up with Alchemist's fire. |
| jakelslang2111-25-07, 01:38 PM | 60. Give the kobold a time stop scroll, then cast haste on him, and finally equip him with a very sharp dagger. Have him walk up to the party and cast time stop on them (hope you get atleast 4 rounds since there are 4 party members) and then proceed to slit their throats. |
| Lord_of_Vain11-25-07, 01:52 PM | Have a sorcerer cast a bunch of delayed blasts fireballs into his gut. Kamikaze!!!!!! |
| happy_fuzzy11-25-07, 07:00 PM | A dragonwrought venerable kobold sorcerer with the Epic Leadership Feat |
| dengarbountyhunter11-27-07, 06:11 PM | 63. Stone giant captures player and shoves a kobold down his throat. |
| seker11-27-07, 06:52 PM | 64. have a pit trap be a oiled funnel going down.... sharp descent to a pool of oil... Have a lone kobold look over the edge into the pit and drop the torch. (actually did this in a campaign when my players were dumb enough to shoot an arrow at the kobold when it looked in the pit at them.) Actually I have lots of ways for a kobold to tpk... my players rightfully fear kobolds... they would take orc hordes anyday. |
| Velcro Zipper12-01-07, 07:05 PM | 65. The players kill said kobold only to learn many levels later, had they spared the creature's life, they would have encountered him again holding the key to their salvation in their darkest hour. Karma's a bi+ch. |
| Viktor_Von_Doom12-02-07, 03:57 AM | 66. Kobold with the only Bag of Holding that can hold the Tarrasque drops into a cave with the PC. |
| Beholder-Evoker12-02-07, 08:13 AM | 67. Give him an infectious disease, that makes him go mad. Have him ambush and bite at least one PC. Wait for 28 days.... 68. Give him 5 or 6 druid levels. 69 Wand of distintigration+Kobold Warhulk who "accidentaly" activates it in the middle of combat*often=TPK |
| Kobold_Avenger12-02-07, 05:28 PM | 70 Give the kobold the paragon template, give it levels of Warlock equal to average party level. Spam invocations untilt they die. 71: Lvl 1 kobold cleric with wand of blaspmy made at a very high caster level. |
| Melpomene12-03-07, 01:31 PM | 72. Werepuma Kobold. 73. Feral Half-Dragon Werepuma Kobold. 74. Half-Red Half-White Half-Green Half-Blue Half-Black Dragon Kobold. 75. Feral Half-Red Half-White Half-Green Half-Blue Half-Black Dragon Werepuma Kobold. |
| Nilbog12-03-07, 08:52 PM | 76. Kobold is a monk (however many levels will be a good challenge for the PCs.) The PCs see an unarmored kobold with a Small quarterstaff ... |
| BruteSquad0112-03-07, 09:17 PM | 77. The kobold, having been turned to stone by a medusa, is now used as a club by an ogre or some such. |
