| kinem03-01-05, 06:57 PM | This forum is for discussion of Libris Mortis, so, this is close enough, and DMs might have more interest. I posted a new base class, skeleton master (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=386633), in the classes forum, and would like reviews. I made it several months ago, pulled out the file recently, but still am not sure on balance. In fact it probably needs changes. It may be more useful when the war book comes out. Thanks. |
| green_yawgmoth03-02-05, 01:29 AM | Mass invis + Destruction retribution + Unliving weapon = chain reaction of ungodly destruction. I like it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| kinem03-02-05, 10:07 PM | Thanks, so I take it as one vote for not underpowered. Anyone else? |
| twad03-02-05, 10:31 PM | well.. i does not look too powerfull since this is just alot of skeletons and skeletons dont grow in trees. Advance my army of noisiness!! |
| kinem03-04-05, 06:48 PM | OK, so one for 'not overpowered". So ... balanced? |
| green_yawgmoth03-05-05, 12:17 AM | OK, so one for 'not overpowered". So ... balanced? I dunno. Big hordes of small critters are pretty difficult at low/mid levels, but once you get that widened fireball/cone of cold/sunburst, the scales fall over from tipping too fast. I;d say playtest it a bit and see how it goes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| kinem03-07-05, 11:47 PM | I was hoping to get it balanced before adding it as an option. Not that I'd mind throwing together online games on the boards here to playtest things ... if I first win the lottery so I don't have to worry about a job or such ... Though if you can get a hold of a few dragon and giant skeletons, you'd probably use most of your control HD for that. Don't forget that the skeleton can have up to 2 HD per caster level, no 20 HD cap. Which obviously brings up the question - how much should monster skeletons cost? A guideline is needed for character creation over 1st level. How about 10 gp per human skeleton, and 100 gp x CR x HD for monsters? |

SMs don't need the material component. Obviously, anyone using animate dead would also need to first obtain the skeleton by buying it (for the price in question), digging it up, as a byproduct of other business, or hunting. |

And once you get a few skeletons, this becomes really easy because "dig there" is a really simple command. :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
