Crazy_DM 01-17-04, 11:37 AM	Hej folks, I have two questions about the Heat ability from the Remorhaz. First, it says that weapons must succed in a Fort Save to avoid destruction. Now, is this save made before or after the strike? Second, if he "is on Heat" I think he should receive some advantage against fire attacks. Something like a +4 bonus or Fire Resistance 10. You strike the creatue, heat is applied on the strike, save is then necessary or you get burned. Second, if he "is on Heat" I think he should receive some advantage against fire attacks. Possibly, but since its heat is mostly internal, and it lives in the cold, I think it's more just a survival mechanism, and exterior heat sources would hurt it just as any other type of attack.
Brian.C 01-17-04, 11:49 PM	An electric eel generates enough voltage to kill a large dog, but it is not itself immune to other electrical sources. By the same token, just because the remorhaz has the power to generate heat doesn't make it immune to fire. After all, it isn't always generating heat, it only does so when it is excited or angry. Probably the adrenaline rush that comes from attacking prey or being attacked by a threat causes the power to initiate. It is also worth noting that the Heat ability is an extraordinary ability, not a supernatural one. So while the remorhaz is a Magical Beast, their really isn't that much magical about it. It's just a predator (albeit a very dangerous one) that has adapted to arctic life. - Brian
Crazy_DM 01-18-04, 04:08 AM	Thank you. But I have another thing. If the Remorhaz got you you could use "light slashing or piercing weapons". Does that mean "light slashing or light piercing weapons?" Or does the light only apply to the slashing weapons? And again you get 8d6 fire damage inside. I ask me which weapon shall survive that? Are weapons immune to fire attacks in DnD? I think this is a little logic problem. I agree otherwise the person would have no chance to escape but ... you know. Greetings, your Crazy_DM
sandskimmer 01-18-04, 01:20 PM	It is light slashing or light piercing, since there isn't enough room inside its gut to wield anything bigger, regardless of the weapon type. No, weapons are not immune to the heat. They should probably get a save, though. Read up on weapon hardness & hit point in your PHB.
