| Morrowner11-03-07, 01:32 AM | Does anyone have the appropriate rules for this? I've been wanting to use a spellgaunt in 3.5 but I don't know what an appropriate thing to change 40/+4 to would be. If someone doesn't have flat +4 weapons against this thing they are pretty much screwed. |
| Return of the Flumph11-03-07, 02:58 AM | Change it to 40/magic and (random). I hate the 3.5 damage reduction system, and would leave it as it is if I were you. |
| runestar11-03-07, 04:54 AM | According to the 3.5 MM2 update booklet (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a), its dr would be revised to dr15/magic cold iron.:) |
| Romtos11-03-07, 06:00 AM | Change it to 40/magic and (random). I hate the 3.5 damage reduction system, and would leave it as it is if I were you. DR 40 would be way too high but still easily overcome. Not balanced. Runestar is right. |
| Morrowner11-03-07, 01:07 PM | So its all or nothing? What 12th/14th level adventurer will not be using a magic or cold iron weapon? Its just crazy that in 3rd edition this could completely hose someone that wasn't prepared for it and in 3.5 its nothing but window dressing. The plan was for a sort of kick-the-door in battle against all the spidery creatures I could lay my hands on with this guy as the leader in a big magic-obsessed raiding cult. I'm going to give it flat DR 10/-, see what happens. |
| Igfig11-03-07, 06:18 PM | no, no, no, magic and cold iron. Most adventurers won't have a magic cold iron weapon unless they plan to fight a lot of fey or demons. And if they do, well, then they aren't going to be using their +3 keen shock holy greatsword. You still come out ahead. |
