| parasyte12-11-05, 12:14 PM | i read somewhere that the an old red dragon takes something like double damage from cold attacks, but now i can't find it anywhere, i'm looking in the monster manual 3.5 and i see "vulnerability to cold" all over but i don't see the damage associated with it. |
| Wolfen Fenrison12-11-05, 12:16 PM | any vulnerability to an energy type multiplies the damage by 50% |
| InfernalSlave12-11-05, 12:23 PM | actually by 150%. |
| strenoth12-11-05, 01:54 PM | Infernal has it right. Take the damage, multiply it by 1.5 |
| Wolfen Fenrison12-12-05, 09:14 AM | thats right my bad |
| savant_warlord1312-12-05, 10:53 AM | no, you are right. it is a 50% increase. that makes a total of 150% of the damage a creature without the vulnerability would take |
| mvincent12-12-05, 05:45 PM | no, you are right. it is a 50% increase. Re-read his post. He initially said "multiplies the damage by 50%", and recognized the mistake shortly there-after. |
| Tony11112-12-05, 05:58 PM | IIRC, the back of the monster manual lists has the descriptions of vulnerabilities. They do not list how special qualities and special attacks work under the descriptions of individual monsters. This is true whether it is improved grab, energy drain, vulnerability to cold, poison, or whatever. The back of the MM is an indispensible resource for understanding monster abilities. -Tony |
| cwslyclgh12-12-05, 06:10 PM | i read somewhere that the an old red dragon takes something like double damage from cold attacksyou were probably reading something that about a 3.0 source, in 3.0 red dragons took double damage on cold on a failed save (but only half damage as normal on a successful save). In 3.5 as has been stated above they take 150% damage from cold regardless of whether thier save is successful or not. |
