(can't run), burrow 10 ft. Armor Class: 25 (-1 Size, +1 Dex, +15 Natural) Base Attack/Grapple: +7/+17 Attacks: 2 slams +12 melee Damage: Slam 2d10+11 Space/Reach: 10 ft. (4 squares)./10 ft. Special Attacks: Spell-like abilities Special Qualities: Construct traits, damage reduction 30/magic, darkvision 60 ft., immunity to magic, low-light vision, regeneration 10 Saves: Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 Abilities: Str 23, Dex 12, Con --, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 1 Skills: -- (whatever creator has given it) Feats: -- Environment: Any Organization: Solitary, pair, or troop (3-5) Challenge Rating: 11 Treasure: None (except heart) Alignment: Always neutral Advancement: 11-20 HD (Large); 21-30 HD (Huge) Level Adjustment: -- Ruby golems stand 9 feet tall. Their gemstone-faceted skin varies in color from light red to nearly black. Ruby golems’ facets tend to be softer and more malleable than those of the other gemstone golems -- their heads are frequently carved to resemble lions, dragons, or screaming gargoyles. Ruby golems’ natural gem magic affinities link them to the healing powers of the earth. They can burrow through rock and soil, and they nearly always choose to travel long distances underground even if overground travel would be faster. Ruby golems’ healing properties enable them to regenerate from most damage, but their flaw is that they are more vulnerable to sonic damage than are the other gemstone golems. Combat Ruby golems frequently interpret orders to attack as orders to grapple, even if their master would prefer that they remain standing. They sometimes prefer not to recognize that a foe has been pounded flat, often continuing to attack a foe who has fallen. Regeneration (Ex): Sonic attacks deal normal damage to a ruby golem. Magic Immunity (Ex): Ruby golems are immune to all spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural effects, except as follows. A shatter spell affects the ruby golem per the spell’s standard effects. A mending spell heals 2d6 points of the damage the golem has suffered. Sonic spells, sonic spell-like abilities, and sonic effects affect the ruby golem normally. Construct: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, disease, and similar effects. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage. Construction The heart of a ruby golem is a great ruby that must be worth at least 10,000 gp. The golem costs an additional 55,000 gp to create, which includes 2,000 gp for the semiprecious stones that make up the body. Assembling the body requires a successful Craft (gemworking) or Heal check (DC 15). The creator must be 16th level and able to cast arcane spells. Completing the ritual drains 1,500 XP from the creator and requires limited wish, move earth, polymorph any object, and stone shape. Treasure A ruby golem possesses no treasure, but if the golem is killed, it crumbles into a pile of worthless powder surrounding its unscathed ruby heart. The heart has the same gold piece value that the ruby had when the golem was created. There ya go. Though I only wonder if it gets feats as well since it has a intelligence score. I know it says golems with Int get skills but it doesnt necessarily say feats. As for the skills, obviously a golem isnt born (technically) and doesnt live its life learning, so would I say for a rule that the golem has whatever skills the creator gives it during its creation if it has a Int score? Would this apply to feats as well if it gets any at all? http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/mm/mm20010427a Original article I got it from, includes the stats obviously so i'm not exactly breaking any rules for posting stuff if its already on the site as it is! Please feel free to comment and tell me anything I am missing, have fun =) |
| ZeronHitaro11-16-06, 03:21 PM | By RAW, the only way a golem can have intelegence is by applying the Living Construct subtype from Magic of Incarnum. |

What would happen if I trapped it...cut off a finger....repaired it and repeated the process over and over? Could I have unlimited rubies? ;) |

Could I have unlimited rubies? ;) My guess would be that if you cut a piece of it off, the piece would turn to dust since its no longer part of the "living" part and considered dead. Hitaro: If you look at the stats on the article AND in the book you'll see it already has a INT score. And this is from Monsters of faerun which came WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY before magic of incarnum. So its like what do you do? Do you make it mindless now? Not to mention incarnum is something actually optional. I guess some golems have INT while most others don't. Edit: Also if you read, the only real main ruby is the heart. Though obviously you can only attain that from killing the golem. The rest of the bodie is semi precious gemstones but somehow it still retains a red color (just like the picture of the ruby golem in the monsters of faerun book) |
