| 42011-28-06, 03:53 PM | Has anyone converted the Abishai from Monsters of Faerūn to 3.5? I think the only real difference would be the Damage Reduction (ie 5/+1 and 10/+1 become 5/magic and 10/magic) and the 3.5 Baatezu traits. Anything else I need to change? Thanks, 420 |
| pukunui11-28-06, 07:36 PM | Just FYI: there are updated stats for the blue abishai in the Red Hand of Doom module ... and you can get the stats for free by downloading the module's web enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060217a). Cheers. |

| 42011-28-06, 09:00 PM | However, they chose to give the Blues' DR/Magic instead of DR/Good or DR/Silver. That's what I was suggesting in my original post. Is there something wrong with that? -420 EDIT: Oh and thanks for the suggestion pukunui! |

| pukunui11-28-06, 09:32 PM | EDIT: Oh and thanks for the suggestion pukunui! You're welcome. Glad I could help. Did they keep the utterly ludicrous connection to Tiamat that got shoehorned in on them in Monsters of Faerun?I'm not familiar with the MoF reference, but considering that Red Hand of Doom is all about fending off an army of Tiamat's followers (as well as being a vehicle for introducing the new "spawn of Tiamat" from MMIV), then I'd have to say "probably". |
| RavinRay11-28-06, 11:32 PM | Yep, according to MoF they serve Tiamat. And in the Red Hand of Doom art gallery, the blue abishai's head resembles that of its namesake dragon. That's about as pretty glaring as it gets re the Tiamat connection. Now if only there were draconic-themed archons for Bahamut to counter the abishai... |
| Shemeska the Marauder11-28-06, 11:59 PM | FYI, it seems that FC:II will update at least some of the Abishai. Hopefully it doesn't continue to link them to Tiamat, since they're Baatezu and Tiamat isn't. |
| RavinRay11-29-06, 12:11 AM | Well, her Avernus rulership status in 1e made that easy. To shoehorn the abishai into her sphere of influence implies to my mind a bargain with the archdevils that she gets a share of larvae/lowest-ranked baatezu that she molds into her image. |
| Shemeska the Marauder11-29-06, 12:46 AM | Well, her Avernus rulership status in 1e made that easy. To shoehorn the abishai into her sphere of influence implies to my mind a bargain with the archdevils that she gets a share of larvae/lowest-ranked baatezu that she molds into her image. I could see her having essentially purchased some authority over some abishai from the Baatezu in exchange for her protection of the main portal from Avernus to Dis. Her relations with the Lords of the 9 in general are pretty cold, but they're nothing if not practical, and if she fills a roll in their eyes they'll grant her a pittance of control over whatever abishai it takes to make her happy. |
