| LadyIslay03-15-04, 07:44 PM | I'm posting to find out if anyone else has noticed that the 3.5 Stirge doesn't deal any damage on it's attack. Of course it has it's Attach & Blood Drain special attacks, but in 3.0, it dealt 1d3-4 damage (a bite) on a successful touch attack. Now it deals nothing. This might not seem like a big deal, but if you're advancing the creature or applying templates, well, it is. Was this a mistake or an intentional change? |
| cwslyclgh03-15-04, 08:38 PM | when I used stirges saturday, I had them deal no damage with the touch attack (they simply attached, since it wasn't listed as a bite attack) and then had them start dealing CON damage the next round. They seemed to work alright that way, but you are correct in that I think that advanced, larger stirges should bable to deal some damage while attaching. |
| LadyIslay03-15-04, 08:45 PM | Technically, stirges don't advance, but I'm tinkering with them a bit to make time a little more challenging. I'm sure that the way are right now, they aren't underpowered for their CR. |

| LadyIslay03-16-04, 09:53 AM | Originally posted by guessmith The 1d3-4 damage doesn't mean zero damage, it's just treated as non-lethal damage. Er, you missed the point, hon. In 3.5, stirges don't deal 1d3-4 damage at all (aside from the con drain). ;) |
| Edymnion03-16-04, 06:32 PM | It is rather odd that this thing can ram it's mouth into your flesh and start sucking the blood from your body without doing a single point of damage? A freaking rat can do more damage than the 3.5 Stirge, and they're just making fleshwound scratches. |

They don't hurt you when they stick that needle in and suck out blood. |
