| blood_of_the_ancient05-02-05, 02:54 PM | 3.X is my own person revision to the 3.5 D&D system. I am re-doing all monsters so that they can be made at MANY different challenge ratings, and can also be played as player characters. The way I do monsters is like this; they have a race, and a racial class. Each level in the racial class grants a hit die, skills, and they gain feats at every third level (and first level) and an ability boost every four levels. Monsters almost always can only have the racial class of their own race (although DMs can make exceptions). Tiefling Race > +2 intelligence, -2 charisma > +2 to bluff and hide > Cannot be ressurected except by a limited wish, wish, miracle, true ressurection or similar effect. > Fire resistance 5 > Automatic languages: Common and either infernal or abyssal. Tiefling Class Hit Die: d8 Base Attack Bonus: +(x) All Saving Throws: +(x/2+2) Defense Bonus: +(5x/6+1) Mana: 6 Level 1: Electricity and cold resistance 5, darkvision 60 feet. Level 2: +2 dexterity, Darkness Darkness: A tiefling2 can cast darkness by spending 6 mana (this counts as a spell-like ability; it cannot be affected by metamagic feats and the caster level for casting it is equal to the tiefling's total hit dice). If the tiefling takes another class that grants it more mana, it can spend it's 6 racial mana on the other spells, or spend the class mana on it's racial darkness ability. |
| Sarig the Genie05-02-05, 05:06 PM | 3.x is already used when talking about both 3.0 and 3.5 :P I'd also like to point out that I don't like your version of the Tiefling, but I suppose that's just my humble opinion though ;) (*hint*charisma bonus!*hint*) |
| blood_of_the_ancient05-02-05, 06:14 PM | Good point, and the tiefling IS just LA +1, so I made it a two-level class. Is it good now? |
| primemover00305-03-05, 07:02 PM | Why make a monster class for any of the base planetouched? Aasimar, Genasi, and Tieflings are already underpowered at LA+1. IMC I play them as LA 0. They're only immune to 7 spells (Daze, Hold/Charm/Dominate Person, and Enlarge/Reduce Person, Anti-life shell) and energy resistance 5 is nice, but not overpowered. There's no need for this. In a campaing based on the Planes I would treat them as Humanoid (Planetouched, Extraplanar). |
| thinkhard05-03-05, 07:23 PM | i dont agree it saying they should be LA +0, but really, there's no point to making a +1 LA a monster class. Also, tieflings are native outsiders; they still are targeted differently by spells but ressurection and all that do work. |
| blood_of_the_ancient05-03-05, 08:47 PM | If somebody suggested this class BASED off of a tiefling, would it look good to you? Is it balanced with other 'base classes'? |
