But I haven't seen them written up in 3.0/3.5 Edition. A Lycanthrope is a humanoid that can take the form of an animal, while an Antherion is an animal that can assume a humanoid form. And as Lycanthropes are vulnerable to silver weapons, Antherions are vulnerable to iron weapons (or 3.5E Alchemical Silver and Cold Iron, respectively.) Lycanthropes and Antherions of similar type (such as werewolves vs. wolfweres) feel an unrelenting hostility toward each other and will attack each other on sight. |

Well, not only does this bestiary contains stats for a number of antherions (asswere, foxwere, jackalwere, lionwere, owlwere, and wolfwere); it also proposes a template allowing you to make *were of any animal. Here's the content of that elusive book. The thing that made beastweres truly different from werebeasts was that they all had UNIQUE ways of luring humanoids to them, rather than template situations. |

That d20 (3rd party) product would be the Tome of Horrors (by me) :) and produced by Necromancer Games. The "XXXweres" (antherions, anthromorphs, therianthropes, whatever) are in the Appendix. |
