| The Vorpal Tribble08-31-05, 09:36 PM | Was about a year ago I made this as my first psionic critter and I hardly knew what I was doing. Getting back to making it the right way. -=-=-=--=-=-=- Pswarmers Fine Vermin (psionic, swarm) Hit Dice: 6d8-6 (22 hp) Initiative: +3 Speed: Fly 30 ft. (good) Armor Class: 21 (+3 dex, +8 size), touch 21, flat-footed 18 Base Attack/Grapple: +4/- Attack: -- Full Attack: -- Space/Reach: 10 ft./0 ft. Special Attacks: Mental Disruption, Mindseed, Psionics Special Qualities: Darkvision 60 ft., Immune to Weapon Damage, Swarm Traits Saves: Fort +3, Dex +5, Will +7 Abilities: Str 1, Dex 17, Con 8, Int 16, Wis 19, Cha 1 Skills: Concentration +7, Hide +28, Knowledge (psionics) +12, Listen +13, Spot +13 Feats: Burrowing Power, Hover, Iron Will Environment: Warm forest and swamp Organization: Swarm Challenge Rating: 4 Treasure: None Alignment: Always Neutral Advancement: Solitary, flight (2–4 swarms), or colony (11–20 swarms) Level Adjustment: -- The pswarmers are possibly the most alien sentient race ever discovered. They appear as a dark cloud of billowing fog that is continuously changing its shape, size, and dimensions. In reality it is a colony of thousands of tiny, lacey winged insectoids that are continuously breeding, dying, and breeding again, never settling to the ground. Together they form a single mind, all acting as one, thinking as one, and living as one. Combat: Pswarmers will attempt to daze, knock out, or in some other way incapacitate its victim using psionic means, and while unable to resist, insert its Mindseed. The swarm automatically manifests its Mindseed ability every round to any creature whose space it occupies at the end of its move. Mindseed (Ps): The pswarm will remain near those they have used mindseed upon and once the victim's mind is completely taken over, it allows the laying of many eggs within it's head. While the eggs develop they receive the knowledge of the host and of the swarm that implanted them. Within one day the eggs hatch, and within two more days the larvae has developed into adults that rise as a new swarm. A host is not needed to procreate, for if none are to be found the eggs are laid inside a special type of swarmer that is many times bigger than the others, about the size of a large beetle. They hatch, grow and eat their way out, killing the brooder swarmer by the time they develop flight. There is one brooder swarmer for roughly every 200 normal swarmers. A sentient host does bring new knowledge and insight to the Swarm, allowing them to grow in complexity and numbers. Mental Disruption (Ps): Any living creature that begins its turn with a pswarm in its space must succeed on a DC 17 will save or be Dazed for the entire time they remain within the swarm plus 1 round. The save DC is Wisdom-based. Metaconcert (Ps): Swarmers use a unique brand of Metaconcert to survive. If this ability is disrupted, the insects become just another bug, unless an undisrupted swarm meets with them again. Psionics: At Will/Mindlink, Metaconcert (only with other Swarmers); 1/round Concussion Blast; 1/minute Mental Disruption; 4/day Modify Memory; 1/day Mindseed, Psionic Blast. Manifester level 6. Save DC's are intelligence based. All powers are augmented to their maximum for their manifester level if applicable. |
| The Vorpal Tribble12-01-05, 10:56 PM | Giving this a bump so that when they delete all the old posts I don't lose my info on my creation page. See info on this upcoming 'house cleaning' here: http://boards1.wizards.com/announcement.php?f=339 Note: This may be one of my older creations from when I was first learning monster making. If it appears really whacked number wise, I'll be getting to it eventually. |
