COMBAT
Skills: +8 bonus to Hide in Dark areas. +4 Racial bonus to Move Silent, Search, Survival & Listen
Damage Reduction(Ex): 10/Silver. Takes 50% more damage from silver
See Invis(Sp): At Will. Caster level equal to HD. Can be reactivated as a Free Action.
Immune to Poison(Ex):
Darkness Camoflage(Ex): Anyone with Dark Vision cannot see the creature. It is treated as invisible. The creature loses the camo if it moves faster than it's base move or attacks.
Tail Spike(Ex): Tail spikes can be used once per minute. They have a cord which is attached to the creature's tail. Anyone hit can be dragged towards the creature at the rate of 20ft per round. An opposed Str check is made. A DC 15 Escape Artist or DC 20 Strength check will pull the spike out. The cord has hardness 5 and hp 10.
The spikes are jagged and anyone pulling it out will suffer an extra 2d4 damage (ignores DR). A DC 15 heal check will get the spike out without any damage.
While the spike is in the body, the target will suffer -1 all attacks, reflex saves & Concentration checks. This is per spike.
The spikes have a range increment of 20ft.
The creature has one spike every 2 HD. They regrow in 24hrs if lost.
Roar(Sp): As Shout Spell. Usable 3times/day. Caster level as HD. DC 19(Con based).

What's the claw damage?

I like it a lot, that should scare my PCs :)

Takes 50% more damage from silver

Does this also apply to magically enhanced weapons that can also break through its damage reduction?

(BTW, you might want to put a space between "SQ:" and "Darkvision". If you look you'll see why...)

CR of 12 or so should be good.

When designing monsters, usually you choose CR before designing. That way you can direct the stats the right way, so to speak.

For instance, I was working on a CR 10 brain golem that wasn't CR 7 like the one in the Fiend Folio. I calculated the average attack bonus and AC values of 10th-level party members (not including a wizard's attack bonus since he doesn't fight, and only including the cleric's buffed bonus) to get appropriate values.

For CR 12 I think this guy's attack bonus is too high - because he has a natural attack routine he can really mess up a character's day with Power Attack.

Darkness Camoflage(Ex): Anyone with Dark Vision cannot see the creature. It is treated as invisible. The creature loses the camo if it moves faster than it's base move or attacks.

Now this is just unfair. Why give dwarves such a sweet bonus, but not half-elves?

Modifications:
Claws : d8+4
Clarification : the Darkness Camo ability does not block See Invis. Anyone with See Invis with Dark Vision can still see it.

This creature is supposed to be CR 18. It might be underpowered in some places.
It's greater Dark Vision give it a major advantage.
Silver was selected because it's not that common for weapon usage.

I'm using 3.5e rules.
