Alright, so I've been pondering things to create, namely undead baddies for my players as their levels continue to go up. And I had a couple of questions/issues that came up.

1)So I was creating some fire giant zombies, which requires the use of create undead, as opposed to animate dead, but anyway...and I noticed for the first time in the text of the zombie entry in the MM that there is no mention under the special qualities section that Zombies get DR 5/slashing. But in every zombie that is statted out, they have the aforementioned DR. Any reason for this...thoughts, comments, or otherwise?

2a)Say I was going to create a hydra skeleton or zombie.
A skeleton retains all the natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature, except for attacks that can’t work without flesh. A creature with hands gains one claw attack per hand; the skeleton can strike with each of its claw attacks at its full attack bonus. A skeleton’s base attack bonus is equal to 1/2 its Hit Dice.

Attacks: A zombie retains all the natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature. A zombie also gains a slam attack.

So would a hydra skeleton or zombie with (say 12 heads) have the same number of attacks as a living one with the same number of heads? (not talking about AoOs, because I'm not really all that concerned with how many AoOs a hydra gets....)

2b) Along this same line of thinking. I enjoy templates, so would an umbral hydra (using the umbral template from SS) have only 1 incorporeal touch attack, or would it have (assuming the base hydra had 12 heads) 12 incorporeal touch attacks?

any help will be most appreciated. Thanks
Cheers!

1: Looks like a typo to me. Zombies need their DR 5/slashing to stay alive...well, animate.

2a: A hydra skeleton would use its full normal attacks (modified by its undead BAB, of course). A hydra zombie would get only one attack, slam or bite. I believe the hydra's ability to attack at no penalty even after moving is overridden by the zombies' "single actions only" special quality. However, it is possible that I am mistaken.

2b: The umbral template states that the base creature "loses all its attacks and gains an incorporeal touch attack." Pretty definitive.
