I am not sure (a) whether zombies can take free or swift actions and (b) whether they can take attacks of opportunity. Also, what does a zombie that becomes uncontrolled (by exceeding the Animate Dead limit, for example) do? Does it stand around mindlessly, or try to follow its last order, or attack anything in sight, or some combination of the above, or something else entirely? |

There are alot more zombies that exist, and alot of feats you can use to buff your zombies, like those found in LibrisMortis.... but as it stands, i wouldnt allow my (slow)zombies to take swift actions... but id probably let them have their A.O.O. |

Single action refers only to moves and attack actions. You can always take free actions and swift actions aren't listed and have never been restricted as far as I know so as long as a zombie has something it can do as a swift action they can do it. As for the uncontrolled thing, I don't see any specifics. being creatures of negative energy I'd assume they would attack anything living they came near, otherwise either wandering aimlessly or hanging out (DM call). If anyone else can find anything on it I'd be interested. |

Also, do zombies get a five-foot step? you always get a 5 - foot step unless otherwise prohibited. So as long as the zombie doesn't take a move action and isnt' in adverse terrain heck yea. |

When not under orders, I'd figure that means trying to eat anything nearby that's living, and if there's nothing interesting nearby, then moving toward anything they notice that they'd like to eat. |
