a hag in disguise ? [Archive] - Wizards Community

In my campaign, the PCs are about to meet a ice hag (from sword & Sorcery's creature collection book). The said hag has a hat of disguise and use it to take a less monstruous form: shorter nails, shorter nose, less sharpy teeths...etc. When the PCs will find her, she will be injured and exhausted. I was hoping for her to gain the PC's confidence and wait to be healed before turning on the PCs. My questions are:

1. Does this makes any sense at all ?

2. Since a ice hag is normally 9ft tall and disguise self can only make you look 1 feet shorter, what should she pretends to be ? I was thinking somekind of half-giant, but I am not sure...

3. What kind of description should I give the PCs when they first see her ? I wouldn't mind them being a bit suspiscious, but I wouldn't want them to attack her right away...

4. What kind of checks should the PCs be allowed to make ? I was thinking:
a) automatically giving them a spot check when they first meet her, to see if they notice that it's a disguise
b) sense motive vs bluff checks only if they ask for it, if she has to pretend to be another race, or lie in any other way.
c) a will save (DC14) if they interact physically with her

5. The PC's cleric will have to touch her if they chose to heal her with cure spells and a 10th level cleric is likely to succeed on the will save. Would it be acceptable for the hag to use suggestion to convince the cleric to forget about it ?

P.S.: I've just realised that I posted that in the wrong forum. I wanted to post in the "what's a DM to do ?" section. Could somebody move it, please ?

1) The hag is not stupid. If not confident of winning a fight, it will be likely to enter one in the first place. Bidding its time to catch the party unawares and fight on its own turf and conditions always was one of the better strategies.

2) Doesn't the hag have the ability to polymorph itself or something? Otherwise, check your MM for any large, good aligned monster to disguise as.

3) Can't come up with any at the moment.....

4) What you said.

5) I doubt a will save is needed here, since the hag is clearly a willing recipient of the cure spell, plus she is not considered a hostile party...yet.
Feel free to have the cleric expend much needed curative magic on her.
