Just like the title states, I have come to a crossroads and i seek the wisdom of those who can muddle through the subject better than I can.

You see, right now I am running a campaign in the only city of dragons in the world. While I won't post the details of how a city of good and evil dragons can exist for fears of my players finding the thread, I will say that I had an idea of a half red dragon/half silver dragon outcast who guards one of the city's most important secrets. He was the result of a rape, when both his parents were in human form and had no idea to the other's true identity. He father is a powerful red dragons nobel, and his mother is a silver dragon.

Of corse, a half dragon dragon brings up a few problems. 1) Its adds to the CR. Why would two dragons mating produce a more powerful than usual dragon? (same goes for ability scores) 2) What about breath weapons and elemental nature? Would he have a dule elemental nature? 3) What about alignment? 3) If I were to apply a template, which would i use as the base? 5) Is it easier to just use a mutt dragon of my own make?

As you can see, the list goes on and on. Any help here would be greatly appriciated.

That is the quickest fix to resolving the entire dragon crossbreeding conundrum.

1) Selective crossbreeding. ;) The best of both gene pools are extracted and mixed together to produce a more powerful offspring.

Personally, I would use the mother as the base dragon, and the half-dragon template would reflect the father's heritage.

Do an advanced google search under boards1.wizards.com and type in "half-dragon dragon" ... it is a topic that has been covered ad nauseum

Try also "crossbreed dragons" or "hybrid dragons". I've posted in older threads on this topic.

Search function, we need it badly in the forums migration.
