| Th_Ar_Al01-26-06, 09:54 PM | It is just a idea, it would a Iron Golem with a chest that looks kinda like a ribcage, and in his "externo" bone he has several holes, where he can shot arrows. Essencially I just I want to take his breath ability and replace it with these arrows. How much damage it will ok to NOT chance his CR? |

| Branto01-27-06, 12:48 AM | It is just a idea, it would a Iron Golem with a chest that looks kinda like a ribcage, and in his "externo" bone he has several holes, where he can shot arrows. Essencially I just I want to take his breath ability and replace it with these arrows. How much damage it will ok to NOT chance his CR? Well, first off how powerful would you like the arrow firing ability to be? I assume you might want it to be a multishot.. with quite a few arrows, but poor accuracy? What exactly fires them? Is the breath weapon diverted to the chest, and the pressure used to propel the arrows? If so, you may want to consider adding the poison breath's affect to the arrows on a successful strike. Note that since you would be using the breath-pressure to propel them, you wouldn't be using the golem's stats for the arrows' attack roll. |
| Th_Ar_Al01-27-06, 10:23 AM | He would shot several arrows at same time, probably with the same acurrace that a iron golem would have if shoting with a bow. The Damage would be Xd8 (19-20/x2), range of 80ft, it is like several crossbows in his chest, that is because of the "X". They need to be fired at the same time. I not decideed if he needs to reload or if they are magically reloaded =P. He would completly lost the breath weapon. |
| hypersonic01-27-06, 10:40 AM | I just got this idea. How about the arrow will be a separate monster that would be fired. You don't need any propulsion, strong legs and shard head of this tiny guy will be enough. It will be a construct, without posion, but just ejecting itself on an opponent (charge) and automatically attacking him with gore attack. photo: http://images.t-shirts.com/jpegs/internal/debbie%2Farrowface.jpg |

Still a idea to think of. |
| hypersonic01-27-06, 03:10 PM | Yes, I am serious. If you don't think it will work, how about something similar to needlefolk (MM2) ?? |
| Th_Ar_Al01-27-06, 04:25 PM | Yes, I am serious. If you don't think it will work, how about something similar to needlefolk (MM2) ?? Sorry it was because of the cartoon =P, and someguys here din't seemed friedly. What the needlefolf does? |
| DoombreedTrollsan01-27-06, 11:54 PM | Why fire the arrows out of his chest? Have a hidden, pop-open compartment from which the arrows fire out of...hrm...maybe that's a little too Robotech. Actually, why not just have the iron golem pre-constructed with a bad-arse repeating crossbow instead of a hand, drawn back with the other hand? |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 12:57 AM | I think it gives more flavor ;) |
| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 05:39 PM | SPELL SHECK. One of the top 10 things that annoy people is bad spelling and grammar. It's easier to uderstand "The Jabberwok" (sp?) than most of your posts. Take the time, it helps us out SO much. Your local rules lawer and nit-picker, Secrets... |

| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 07:53 PM | "The Jabberwok" is a famous poem by Lewis Carol. It makes use of several nonsense words like "vorpal", "snicker-snack", "Tum-tum tree", "frumious", and "bandersnatch". Can we get Speeblefreak or Watchdog of Hades in here? |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 07:59 PM | and the what in the 9 hells this have to do with this topic ò.Ó, if I mispelled something can't you just say it????? |
| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 08:13 PM | I did. I was just using a simile/metaphor thing. Anyways, back on topic, use what the other people said. I was just nit-picking. |

| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 08:55 PM | It developed from the term for searching for lice eggs or "nits". Nit-picking has come to mean something like the below: Nit-pick (v): to examine and critisize small flaws in another persons work or speech in an attempt to remove any error, no matter how small. |

I thought that was called flooding. |
| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 10:35 PM | No, its called "spamming." I was not spamming, I was simply tring to help you fix the spelling and grammar errors in your post. For example "A Iron..." should be "An Iron..." That's nit-picking. I may not have the best definition. If we could get Trollbill or Dok in here... |
| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 10:36 PM | Spamming is something like the following: You suck. This is useless. Go home, b******! |
| speeblefreak01-28-06, 10:38 PM | You called? |
| Secrets Untold01-28-06, 10:40 PM | Sorry, that was a while ago, we were discussing the Jabberwok. I just wanted you to explain it to him. |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 10:46 PM | *sigh* if any of you whant to explain me anything not related to the topic (specially mispelled words) send me a private message, and do not post that here. |
| speeblefreak01-28-06, 10:49 PM | Ah. *eh-hem* :teach: The jabberwock is a fearsome creature prominently featured in Lewis Carrol's poem, "Jabberwocky." It (the jabberwock) has jaws that bite and claws that catch. It also has eyes of flame and lives in the tulgey wood. About 2/3 of the way through the poem the jabberwock is slain by a vorpal sword. There is a picture of the jabberwock; you can probably find it with a Google image search. Watchdog of Hades and I have both written statistics for the jabberwock. WoH's statistics make it quite epic, while mine put it at a more modest CR. That should be all you need to know. [/:teach:] |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 10:57 PM | amazing. you can't just send me a pm. ò.ó |
| speeblefreak01-28-06, 11:08 PM | Your message was posted while I was writing mine, so I didn't get the chance to see it. |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 11:10 PM | Your message was posted while I was writing mine, so I didn't get the chance to see it. Fine... at least do you have something useful to say? |
| speeblefreak01-28-06, 11:26 PM | The iron golem's breath weapon a total of 4d4 Con damage. That averages to 10 Con damage. That results in the loss of 5 hp per level for the character. At a CR 13 golem, that makes 65 damage. In average damage of d8s (d8 for light crossbows, which have the 80-ft range you want), that's just over 14d8 damage. Let's go with 15d8, as it's easier to work with. Since you're now attacking with arrows instead of poison gas, you'll be using attack rolls instead of forcing saving throws. The iron golem's save DC for the gas was rather low for CR 13, so I think the damage dice can be split up without weakening the creature too much. Let's say the golem can fire its crossbows in bursts of 5 bolts each. If we keep the same rate of use, 1/minute it can fire volleys of crossbow bolts at 3 adjacent creatures w/in 80 ft. Each volley deals 5d8 piercing damage on a successful attack roll. On the other hand, many parties would be protected from the original golem's poison, so let's lower the damage to 4d8 per volley. Useful enough for you? |
| Th_Ar_Al01-28-06, 11:35 PM | Short Answer: Yes Long Answer: Hell Freakin Yes!!! You made all the work!!! |
| hypersonic01-29-06, 07:36 AM | But where are we going to put this fearsome weapon? |
| Slagger the Chuul01-29-06, 07:57 AM | If you want to do it differently, you could use a line or cone effect and simply require a Reflex save for half damage. |
| Secrets Untold01-29-06, 08:08 AM | Either put the weapon in the chest like you stated earlier, or make it breathe arrows. My question is, why does the golem have a breath weapon? Read the construct entry. DOES NOT BREATHE! |
