| klode_me03-04-06, 08:24 AM | I need a list of Elemental creatures and their source. Anyone who could help me out? Cheers klode_me |
| Millenia03-04-06, 07:42 PM | http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/elemental.htm <- Air, Earth, Fire, and Water Elementals. There are also other creatures in the monster section that are elemental type (translation: they use elemental hit dice), but do not have elemental as part of their name. The Magma, Ice, Smoke, and Ooze Elementals are in the 3.0 book Manual of the Planes (and possibly Planar Handbook). The Air, Earth, Fire, and Water Monolith Elementals are in Complete Arcane. http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psb/20030725c <- Ectoplasm elemental |
| Shemeska the Marauder03-04-06, 09:02 PM | FWIW: Ooze, Smoke, Magma, Ice are 'para'elementals. Positive Quasielementals: Steam, Radiance, Mineral, Lightning (PSMC3) Negative Quasielementals: Salt, Ash, Dust, Vaccuum. (PSMC3 - these also appear in the 3.5 Libris Mortis but are called 'undead elementals / necromentals' which doesn't make sense, but they're the same creature, or the inspiration for them) Djinn, Efreet, Dao, Marid, Jann - they're elemental natives, though not true elementals. For reasons unknown to logic, 3.x made them outsiders... Virtually anything in the 2e PSMC3 (which covers the Inner Planes and to a lesser extent the Transitive planes). |
| Millenia03-04-06, 09:45 PM | FWIW: Ooze, Smoke, Magma, Ice are 'para'elementals. Right. The specific term eluded me. ^^; Oh, and weren't there "elemental weirds" in 2nd edition, or were those in 1st only? |
| Shemeska the Marauder03-04-06, 10:29 PM | Oh, and weren't there "elemental weirds" in 2nd edition, or were those in 1st only? All 3 editions of the game actually. I can't say specifically where in 2e they appeared, but in 3e they're in one of the monster manuals (MM3?). However the 3e versions are essentially redefined from how I've seen them depicted in prior editions. |

Klode, after looking over the Monster Manual 3, I found out it has Storm Elementals. Hope all of this helps. |
| cwslyclgh03-05-06, 07:22 PM | 3e elemental weirds are in MM2. |
| The Vorpal Tribble03-05-06, 09:17 PM | This'll listem all: http://realmshelps.dandello.net/monsters/mainlist.shtml Edit: It appears it doesn't have some of the most recent ones, such as the Taint Elemental from Heroes of Horror. |

| Echoes of Deception03-06-06, 01:25 AM | I believe that in prior editions, elemental weirds were depicted as low-level serpent-like creatures composed of their element. |
| Millenia03-10-06, 06:21 PM | I believe that in prior editions, elemental weirds were depicted as low-level serpent-like creatures composed of their element. That's all? |
| cwslyclgh03-10-06, 06:26 PM | pretty much yep snakes made of thier element, although I don't remember air weirds or fire weirds in 2e, just Earth and Water (and in 1e only water). |
| The Vorpal Tribble03-10-06, 06:37 PM | Thought I might mention that there are snow and ice wierd in Frostburn. Basically they appear as extremely tall, slender woman wreathed in winter. |
| Echoes of Deception03-10-06, 10:53 PM | Air weirds were referred to as wind spies, and fire weirds were called tome guardians |
