A Little Confusion: Planetar or Trumpet Archon? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-28-03, 05:35 AM I was browsing through the art gallery for the MM3.5 and I noticed something which really confused me. In the archon picture I saw what looked like a planetar, but it was holding a trumpet. In the MM3.0, it says that Trumpet Archons look like winged elves, and that planetars looked like hairless humans with emerald skin and feathery wings. So to me that picture doesn't make sense. Have they changed the description in the MM3.5 or something?

08-28-03, 07:41 AM Now they are green winged elves. See the pointy ears? That's an elf. It could be fat with polka dots, but as long as you've got those pointy ears, you are "elven like." :rolleyes:

I also think the artists for the 3.5 celestials went overboard on making them bald. The solar too is bald and even the astral deva is wearing his hair pretty closely cropped. It's not that supprising then that the trumpet archon recieved a similar military "mighty fine" style hair cut. At least the picture of the archons is relatively well drawn in quality; those of the angels are completely lacking in the power and awe such creatures should inspire. I think Hawkman is more terrifying than whatever half bird creature spawned those pogues.

08-29-03, 02:53 AM Solars look ke humans, elves look like hlaf starved humans with pointy ears, dwwarves look like short stout humans, in fact, pretty well all HUMANoids are somewhat human. So few things look like humans? Giants look like human, mind flayers are roughly humanoid, Some demons and devils look like humans, and I could go on, but....

08-29-03, 03:37 AM Yeah, every humanoid looks humanoid. You're just dodging my point, though. By looking like "human", I was meaning the same level of lookinglikeness than ghaeles looking like elves.
