Kaladin 01-04-05, 05:43 PM	I'm level 7, planning to take leadership at 9th level. I met a green dragon (wyrmling) that is now friendly thanks to me sparing it (after it attacked me) and bringing it food everyday. When can it become a cohort of mine? I checked the DMG and the Monster Manual but I come up with I need to be level 12. Thing is that doesn't make sense I could have a 10th level Ftr by that time which is by far 2 times as good or more. So I think I made a mistake, can someone help me, thanks.
Gurthoron 01-04-05, 05:53 PM	Well, I don't have leadership stats in front of me but you could take the Dragon Cohort feat at 9th level, which treats dragons as three levels lower for the purpose of cohorts. (Pretty sure) Now I don't know whether you did your math wrong or what, but that will cover you. I don't think it gives you followers though, but you seem only interested in cohortness. Have fun.

obrysii 01-04-05, 06:43 PM	He did the math right. The ECL of a Green Wyrmling is 10. The Dragon Cohort feat would treat it as ECL 7 for purposes of Cohort level.
Kaladin 01-06-05, 06:37 AM	Ok 7 that works... Do I need only that feat or leadership as well? (Our group would rather have the creature as an NPC than a Cohort, we tend to not like em cause they are more powerful than other feats in most cases. NPCs drain gold, items, and XP, Cohorts don't (for the most part). I have a feeling the problem isn't with my math but the way the ECL system is calculated. I won't get into the debate but the next version (lol) should strongly look at Monsters as Characters. Thanks for all the help.
