Insider Type: An insider is at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of an Inner Plane. Some creatures start out as some other type and become insiders when they attain an elemental or energetic state of spiritual existence. Features: An insider has the following features. 8-sided Hit Dice. Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (as fighter). Good Fortitude, Reflex, and Will saves. Skill points equal to (8 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die. Traits: An insider possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry). Darkvision out to 60 feet. Unlike most other living creatures, an insider does not have a dual nature—its soul and body form one unit. When an insider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don’t work on an insider. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection to restore it to life. An insider with the native subtype can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be. Proficient with all simple and martial weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry. Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Insiders not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Insiders are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor. Insiders breathe (although the medium that they need to breathe in varies with their elemental or energy nature), but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native insiders breathe, eat, and sleep. Immune to spells and effects that specifically affect Outer Plane outsiders. (Conversely, spells and effects that specifically affect insiders do not affect outsiders.) With this classification, genies, genasi, mephits, and gen all become insiders. |

| RavinRay04-02-07, 01:05 AM | In a world parallel to the world called Earth, insiders have supplanted humans as the dominant race. Most of them are janni, as they are the genie most comfortable living in the Material Plane. Some of them are hosts of a daily nighttime television show (a technological wonder that mimics an advanced form of project image) named appropriately, The Insider, where fellow janni report on the doings of famous personalities. In that world's entertainment industry, outsiders perform the stunts for shows depicting a story. Fire genasi and efreet portray fire fighters and daredevil drivers, water genasi and marids do water stunts, and so forth. One sister TV show even has a correspondent whose first name is, perhaps not coincidentally, Jann. :D |
