| MrAdam09-13-05, 02:43 PM | Hellodea I was wondering... I'm working on a pair of monsters, and I can't for the life of me figure out what type they should be, can anyone aid me in my quest? A) Spectre Eye: Called spectre eyes because of they look similar to large eyballs that float about eerily and silently, spectre eyes are large airborne jellyfish, with large glowing blue caps that resemble huge eyes, with long trailing purplish tentacles. I originally was thinkin' aberation, but jellyfish are perfectly natural creatures, but jellyfish have really primitive nervous systems and therefore don't think so, vermin perhaps? B) Headhunter: The severed head of a giant, treated with a specialized mixture of alchemical formulae so it grows twice it's normal size, but at the same time becomes withered and desicated beyond recognition, then animated with an air-elemental spirit. I can't decide wether this thing is undead (because it's an animated part of a once living creature) or construct (because of the whole alchemy and animated by an elemental bit) |
| Puca09-13-05, 02:51 PM | Aberation works well for the first. Aberation is a nice "catch-all" type because it can fit almost anthing wierd. Magical beast might also work. The second, because it is animated by an elemental spirit, looks just like the discription for a golem, so Id say construct. |

| dok09-13-05, 03:04 PM | The Spectre Eye should be an Abberation. Yes, jellyfish are perfecty natural, by they can't fly. The ability to fly, along with any other magical or supernatural abilities, makes this an Abberation. Plus, pretty much anything with tenticles is an Abberation. The Headhunter sounds like an Undead, mostly because of the "withered and dessicated" text. If it were a construct, the flesh would mostly be intact, and remain intact. |
| Lyinginbedmon09-13-05, 03:43 PM | I'm pretty sure that the Headhunter sounds a lot like a modified Flesh Golem, as such I'd say Construct, because it's being created in a manner almost identical to it, though dok is right in assuming that it does seem much like an Undead |
