| Ront Iron-Roar08-03-06, 03:44 PM | Have any of you guys ever made a monster only to find out later that a similar creature has been made officially either before or shortly after you post your creature? |
| Sorcen_Anenooata08-03-06, 04:31 PM | Yes, just this morning actually about my radiant template. Apparently it was done before in Dragon magazine #321. |
| cwslyclgh08-03-06, 04:58 PM | similar yeah, but not any where close to actually identicle. |
| Return of the Flumph08-03-06, 05:01 PM | Same here. The Wendigo rendered my Kushtaka obsolete, and the Murderjack filled the same niche as my Creeper. Ah well. |
| Talisman08-03-06, 06:04 PM | What? No!...never! Nope, everything I've ever made remains COMPLETELY original! Really! )Talisman looks around nervously( |
| ziggy_killroy08-04-06, 01:05 AM | I stated up an Origami Golem in 2003. It was nearly point for point the same as the Paper Golem which appeared not to long ago in Dragon. |
| Lord_Canius08-04-06, 01:23 AM | My Hex Luminae is like something I thought I saw either in the Fiend Folio or Libris Mortis, which I bought not long AFTER I made the Hex Luminae. However, they are only the same in shape (scorpion-like with 4 claws instead of a head). |
| RoCkEtInToXiCaTe08-04-06, 01:29 AM | I mean, I've made many s-CRY-ed Alter Powers, Mewtwo, and the RahXephon into the d20 system (Failed miserably at the Mewtwo and RahXephon, though). Does that count? |
| pileobone08-04-06, 09:50 AM | I can't say I've discovered any of my creatures elsewhere, however that could be due in large part to the fact that the only monster book I own is the MM 3.5. What can I say? I'm cheap. |
| Golem01108-04-06, 10:02 AM | Yeah, I've found that a couple of times... |
| savant_warlord1308-04-06, 10:17 AM | Only for animals and such |
| SquirrelMortis08-04-06, 10:19 AM | Yeah. I was wondering why the half-fiend template always made the people look the same. I was brainstorming how to fix that when POOF! wizards comes out with 'Half-Fiendish Variety'. It makes me MAD!!! Grrr, SquirrelMortis Hulk Smash WORLD!!!! :banghead: |
| BladefellMaster08-04-06, 12:33 PM | Happened several times. I had the frostfell creatures, based off the winterwolf so anything could be like one, and then they put out frostburn. I had the corphals and then they put out libris mortis and the necropolitian. I agree with squirrelMortis, but I'll let him smash the world and I'll pick up the peices. |
| obrysii08-04-06, 02:20 PM | I made a Dire Tortoise on the boards a long time ago, long before the rather poor version showed up in Sandstorm. |
| Ront Iron-Roar08-09-06, 04:55 PM | Yeah. I was wondering why the half-fiend template always made the people look the same. I was brainstorming how to fix that when POOF! wizards comes out with 'Half-Fiendish Variety'. It makes me MAD!!! Grrr, SquirrelMortis Hulk Smash WORLD!!!! :banghead: Yeah, I thought that up and even came up with a system for it before wizard's did thier article on it. Guess enough of us made threads about half-fiends and such. |
| Prak, the Mad08-09-06, 05:43 PM | a couple times I thin, can't remember what specifically though, except the squirrels in MM4, I created something like them a while ago, now I just wish we had stats for normal squirrels... |
| speeblefreak08-09-06, 06:07 PM | I put together a weapon-bonded template, and then out comes Eberron with its warforged. Ooooh! :tantrum: Then this morning I found Dungeon Siege's twisted mucosa very similar to my arachnitaur mutant. |
| Athanatos08-09-06, 06:35 PM | I had this idea one time. It was called an "Owl-Bear". Shows how ignorant I am. |
