A simple question about wights [Archive] - Wizards Community

As a new DM I do not understand everything in the manuals. I have a question about the wight, or, to be more specific, it's energy drain ability. If I'm not mistaken, it gives the victim a 'negative level'. Does it mean the obvious (exp drain) or something other?
I'm not sure if I should have inserted wights in the campaign already...
