| Kingrames02-24-04, 11:51 PM | So I was creating this creature and decided I'd look at the paragon template, and well, it's ridiculous. +20's all around the place and a +18 to the cr. just not my style. here goes: the "First Creature" template, to be used when a creature becomes the first of its kind to become something, like a race/class combo or a template/race combo... in this particular case it was a Erinyes that had become a tenebrian. (bonded to the plane of shadows by the choice of the plane itself). here's the modifiers I came up with, and they're really wacky. Maximum hp per hit die (it was a smaller scale paragon!) Speed +20%, rounded off, each type. AC: +1 to each bonus applied (natural, armor, shield, deflection, etc.) Attacks: +1 to each bonus applied (sacred, Strength, luck, etc.) Damage: +1 to each bonus applied +4 Caster Level for all spell purposes, including spells known and spells per day. Damage reduction: increases by +1, and an additional type is added, but can't be in opposition to the character or another type of DR. (you could have good and silver and cold iron but not good and evil or lawful and chaotic and you couldn't choose chaotic if you were chaotic) Spell Resistance +5 (+1 per character level) +2 to all saving throws Fast healing 1 or +1 All abilities start at 20 instead of rolling 3d6 +1 to all skill checks Can choose 5 skills to permanently be considered class skills. (can level up in these skills faster than in other skills i.e. can put 3 points in them if the dm says normally you can only put 2 points in a skill at level up) For a PC taking this template there are a number of drawbacks. If the PC shows weakness, he or she will be hunted by assassins either of their own organization or an opposing organization, or overzealous subordinates. Should the PC ever be outdone by a member of their race/template or race/class combo of which they are a "First Creature" they must share the title (if good), or relinquish the title and all benefits (any alignment), or they die. preferably in either a melodramatic, emotional, epic, or otherwise pleasing manner, however even that is at the discretion of the DM. you could choke on a meatball sandwich if you aren't careful. If the PC reaches 11 hit dice/levels or higher, any single failure that can be interpreted or misinterpreted as their fault causes one of the aforementioned abilities (at random) to not work for one day or until the incident is fixed, whichever takes longer. CR adjustment: +4. ( it gets really wacky at higher levels and I'll show an example in another thread) |

And your drawbacks are just bad...that means that the characters are automaticly recognized as paragons and will be treated as such, i dont even see how thats possible. and give up the title? how do you stop being what you geneticly are? its your call for your campaign but i just find those really...well...lame. |

(even if only among your race). |
