| Deitus12-06-05, 12:11 PM | hey there, Looking @ the vampire Gaze/ Dominate attack, does the victim have to be able tosee the Vamp, or does the vampire just simply have to focus on the victims eyes? Thanks Deitus |
| Spike_Fightwicky12-06-05, 12:22 PM | I'm not 100% sure, but from the Gaze entry of the MM, unless the character is actively and specifically trying to avoid the gaze (averting eyes, or wearing a blindfold), he can be targeted by the gaze. |
| Deitus12-06-05, 12:43 PM | Hey there This is copied from the Hypertext SRd. Emphasis Mine. Dominate (Su) A vampire can crush an opponent’s will just by looking onto his or her eyes. This is similar to a gaze attack, except that the vampire must use a standard action, and those merely looking at it are not affected. Anyone the vampire targets must succeed on a Will save or fall instantly under the vampire’s influence as though by a dominate person spell (caster level 12th). The ability has a range of 30 feet. Its This line " A vampire can crush an opponent’s will just by looking onto his or her eyes." that has me wondering. from that wording I would think that the effect would work dispite the fact that the V ampire is invisible. I'm asking because I'm getting ready to send the group on CotSQ, and the Invisible vampire will cause some trouble anyway, if the gaze works while Invis, then the group is in for a very rough time. | Spike_Fightwicky12-06-05, 01:01 PM | Under the SRD section on Gaze Attacks: Invisible creatures cannot use gaze attacks. If so, some diabolical lich would cast greater invis on a bunch of Bodaks and have the best defended lair ever :D |
