Tried looking through the books, but was unable to find an answer... When a Vampire gains 5 temporary hit points each time it drains blood or bestows a negative level, how long do said temp HP's persist?

I recall there being a rule that temporary HP's last one hour, but cannot locate that rule either.

I'm currently away from a copy of the DMG, so a link to the correct page of the SRD would be greatly appreciated, though a DMG or PHB page number would work just as well, if someone could provide it.

Thanks!

An additional question:

If a vampire is dropped to 0 HP's, and then assumes gasous form (attempting to reach his coffin), but is unable to get to his coffin (due to distance), what happens to all his equipment that assumed the gasous form with him?

Does he die, but then his equipment falls to the ground? Or does it discorporate with him?

For all rule-interests and purposes, temp hp only last about an hour. When I'm handling it, I say temp hp vampires gain are permanent up to their maximum. All surplus hp over their normal maximum are lost after an hour.

So for example: Anaziel has a maximum of 32 hp. He has been hit by magic missiles and the like and his regeneration is, for whatever reason, supressed. He is down to 20 hp. He grabs up Max the Swashbuckler and sinks fangs. He drains all of Max's 20 hp, bringing Anaziel up to 40 hp. The combat is over, and after an hour, Anaziel's hp drop back to 32.

From the Energy Drain special ability: (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#energyDrainAndNegat iveLevels) A creature gains 5 temporary hit points (10 on a critical hit) for each negative level it bestows (though not if the negative level is caused by a spell or similar effect). These temporary hit points last for a maximum of 1 hour. No one?

If he dies, the gaseous form must end. If gaseous form ends, the vamp and his EQ return to normal. So if the vamp doesn't make it to the coffin, his cloud goes 'poof' and his EQ drops to the floor.
