| Thrasher09-29-05, 11:13 AM | Is it possible to make a Werepyre? A werewolf that is a vampire too. a Vampire in both human and hybrid form. If so what lvl would that be? dang i cant even imagine the stats for that. |
| malykoth09-29-05, 12:23 PM | Yeah, you could...and the level adjustment would be something like +11, and that's for one of those lesser vampires, mind you. So at 12th level, you'd have 1 HD of hit points...but at least it would be a d12. A mediocre cleric could probably turn you to dust pretty easily with a turn attempt. |
| Gurthoron09-29-05, 12:48 PM | And don't forget you have the base animal hit dice to include as well. Minimum would be a critter with 2 animal hit dice and a +11 LA. Plus, being undead circumvents one of the great advantages to being a lycan, that of gaining con (and hp) while shifting. I wouldn't bother with the critter, it would just get slaughted by anything. Even worse, it gains the negative aspects of being both a lycan (silver, involuntary shifting) and a vamp. (garlic, running water, sunlight) |
| Algorithm_X09-29-05, 02:23 PM | First the character vampire would have to have been werewolf (the specific lycathrope you referenced) first as vampires don't qualify afflicted lycanthropy template. Humanoid Lycanthropes retain the humanoid type so they qualify for the vampire template if their HD equals 5. Meaning a human werewolf would have to have 2 class levels to have enough HD to not be transformed into a vampire spawn ( who retains non e of their former abilities) The Vampiric Werewolf would become undead (Augmented Humanoid Shapeshifter) Alternate Form (Su) A vampire can assume the shape of a bat, dire bat, wolf, or dire wolf as a standard action. This ability is similar to a polymorph spell cast by a 12th-level character, except that the vampire does not regain hit points for changing form and must choose from among the forms mentioned here. While in its alternate form, the vampire loses its natural slam attack and dominate ability, but it gains the natural weapons and extraordinary special attacks of its new form. It can remain in that form until it assumes another or until the next sunrise. (If the base creature is not terrestrial, this power might allow other forms.) Alternate Form (Su) A lycanthrope can shift into animal form as though using the polymorph spell on itself, though its gear is not affected, it does not regain hit points for changing form, and only the specific animal form indicated for the lycanthrope can be assumed. It does not assume the ability scores of the animal, but instead adds the animal’s physical ability score modifiers to its own ability scores. A lycanthrope also can assume a bipedal hybrid form with prehensile hands and animalistic features. Changing to or from animal or hybrid form is a standard action. A slain lycanthrope reverts to its humanoid form, although it remains dead. Separated body parts retain their animal form, however. Afflicted lycanthropes find this ability difficult to control (see Lycanthropy as an Affliction, below), but natural lycanthropes have full control over this power. The reason the vampires ability is simular to polymorph and not a polymorph is because undead can't polymorph. Polymorph Transmutation Level: Sor/Wiz 4 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Willing living creature touched Duration: 1 min./level (D) Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No This spell functions like alter self, except that you change the willing subject into another form of living creature. The new form may be of the same type as the subject or any of the following types: aberration, animal, dragon, fey, giant, humanoid, magical beast, monstrous humanoid, ooze, plant, or vermin. The assumed form can’t have more Hit Dice than your caster level (or the subject’s HD, whichever is lower), to a maximum of 15 HD at 15th level. You can’t cause a subject to assume a form smaller than Fine, nor can you cause a subject to assume an incorporeal or gaseous form. The subject’s creature type and subtype (if any) change to match the new form. Upon changing, the subject regains lost hit points as if it had rested for a night (though this healing does not restore temporary ability damage and provide other benefits of resting; and changing back does not heal the subject further). If slain, the subject reverts to its original form, though it remains dead. The subject gains the Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores of the new form but retains its own Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. It also gains all extraordinary special attacks possessed by the form but does not gain the extraordinary special qualities possessed by the new form or any supernatural or spell-like abilities. Incorporeal or gaseous creatures are immune to being polymorphed, and a creature with the shapechanger subtype can revert to its natural form as a standard action. Material Component An empty cocoon. This is the same problem Druids with wildshape faces. Now in the Libris Mortis there is a feat that allows a Druid to use Wildshape to become undead versions of animals, I think this precedent means that a homebrewed feat that does the same thing for undead lycanthropes would not be out of line with cannon. Until the new vampire mastered that feat he would be locked in the humanoid shape (as becoming a vampire kills the victim and werewolfs revert to true form when killed) The minimum ECL for such a character is 15 for an afflicted and 16 for a natural lycanthrope (due to minimum HD for the vampire template) |
| Thrasher09-29-05, 02:36 PM | ok cool thanks for the info. I just thought it would be a cool idea. a giant hybrid looking wolf with giant black wings that turns people its bites into things like it. just thought it was a cool idea |
| Satori09-29-05, 03:24 PM | Stop watching "Underworld". I have nothing useful to add, so I figured I'd be a jerk. |

| Kothardarastrix09-30-05, 05:39 AM | Or playing Adventure Quest |
| Thrasher09-30-05, 01:21 PM | 1st off never saw underworld, the special effects looked crappy and 2nd off whats adventure quest? |
| MinionOfCthulhu09-30-05, 05:01 PM | ok cool thanks for the info. I just thought it would be a cool idea. a giant hybrid looking wolf with giant black wings that turns people its bites into things like it. just thought it was a cool idea Where do the wings come in? |
| Kothardarastrix09-30-05, 08:50 PM | Adventure Quest is a small rpg, over the internet that you can play during your coffee break... the Werepyre species was created as an in between in their Vampire Lycan War plot.... the leader of them looks like a huge black werewolf with black wings and overly large canines, even for a werewolf... |
| Thrasher10-01-05, 01:29 PM | oh cool. sounds awesome. I was just thinking black wolf with wings as a kind of bat/wolf cross. Like have a classic turn into a bat vampire. Just when he shifts into a werewolf some of his bat like traits shine through and he gets wings and the black fur. |
| Kothardarastrix10-01-05, 05:48 PM | Heres a picture of a Werepyre from adventurequest... http://www.ultimateaq.com/nc_armor.php?armor=WerePyre%20Form |
