aberration army [no almelo players] [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-13-06, 09:20 AM i'm planning to put an aberration army into my campaign.

the leaders are all mindflayers trying to regain their empire.
but what should i use for foot soldiers.

i don't want to use other races put under the domination spell or something. i want pure aberrations.

any suggestions.

12-13-06, 09:28 AM The underdark is full of many kinds of abberations, but most of them are quite powerfull. Aboleths are surely to strong-willed to be controlled by mind flayers, but beholders might work. There are also the Chuuls and Umber Hulks, but those are quite strong, too.
Good "beast" would probably be destrachans, gricks or carrion crawlers and choker make a good goblin substitution, but only for ambushes. I'd also look out for magical beasts, there are some pretty weired spiecies among them, too.

If you're sure you want pure, unadulterated aberration, though, I would use either grell or those illithid pets from Lords of Madness.

12-13-06, 03:46 PM You could swipe the "dols" from Eberron - Dolgrim, Dolgaunt and Dolghast. They're aberrated versions of goblins and hobgoblins, which sound like good footsoldiers to me.
