Did you miss my silly questions? No? So, they've come back!!! :D My new 1st level dwarf has just been infected with licantropy (he's now a wererat). Now, how does my new Control Shape skill work?!? Can I select The Improved Cotrol Shape Feat? Will I attack my friends when I'm in rat-shape? Will I be able to use my feats normally (suc Expertise & Power Attack)? Will my ECL increase?
And, basically...
Which advantages will grant me licantropy? (damage reduction, saving throws, bab, skills?). Is there a way to improve them, while minimizing disadvantages?

Thanx

Slow down there buddy! One question at a time. :)

Now, first off, the lycanthrope template will give you an ECL. It'll be clarified exactly how much when the new 3.5 MM comes out.

Second, if you want to stay non-evil, do not assume this is a good thing. By the rules, any use of Control Shape to willingly change into your animal or hybrid form automatically changes your alignment to that of the appropriate lycanthrope (in your case, LE). This is because you've chosen to embrace the curse, rather than fight it.

Yes, you will attack your friends while in rat form.

I believe you can still use all of your feats, provided they're physically possible in your new form.

Thanx. Any other comment?
Anyone there? :sighs:
So there's no escape: no control, really cool moustaches, and shifting alignment.... oh... I love my DM :behold:

Oh, there is an escape. Have your character ask around, especially with clerics. I won't spoil it, just in case your DM has a surprise in store, but you can be cured of lycanthropy.

Oh, but I KNOW (as a player) there's a cure. I know the three core rules manuals like my pants... but I'd like to play this werebeast... that's so unusual (at least, for me). But I'd also like to smoothly run my dwarf (no Gollum-like personality crisis, thanx). I'd like to run a shapechanger, especially in hybrid form...

What about some new homebrew feats?

By the rules, you can only do it in the Forgotten Realms. There's a prestige class for clerics of Selune that allows you to be an infected lycanthrope without changing alignment. But you can't get that ability until at least level 12-15, so it won't do you any good. :)

Lycanthropy is meant to be a curse, not a boon. I'm afraid you're best off to just get cured.
