When hit by an annihilator's antennae, the target gets disintegrated, as the spell. If the target succeeds its save, it takes 5d6 pts of damage. But if it fails it save, how much damage does it take ? What is the caster level for the disintegrate effect ?

For those who don't know, here's the spell description:

Disintegrate
Transmutation
Level: Destruction 7, Sor/Wiz 6
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect: Ray
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial (object)
Spell Resistance: Yes

A thin, green ray springs from your pointing finger. You must make a successful ranged touch attack to hit. Any creature struck by the ray takes 2d6 points of damage per caster level (to a maximum of 40d6). Any creature reduced to 0 or fewer hit points by this spell is entirely disintegrated, leaving behind only a trace of fine dust. A disintegrated creature’s equipment is unaffected.

When used against an object, the ray simply disintegrates as much as one 10- foot cube of nonliving matter. Thus, the spell disintegrates only part of any very large object or structure targeted. The ray affects even objects constructed entirely of force, such as forceful hand or a wall of force, but not magical effects such as a globe of invulnerability or an antimagic field.

A creature or object that makes a successful Fortitude save is partially affected, taking only 5d6 points of damage. If this damage reduces the creature or object to 0 or fewer hit points, it is entirely disintegrated.

Only the first creature or object struck can be affected; that is, the ray affects only one target per casting.

Arcane Material Component: A lodestone and a pinch of dust.

I think they were thinking of the 3.0 disintegrate spell when they made that monster (in 3.0 didntegrate didn't do any damage it was save or die, 5d6 on a made save).

I would most likly make caster level equal to HD if there was not one listed.

That's the standard rule for supernatural and spell-like abilities.

That's the standard rule for supernatural and spell-like abilities. You're right.

Supernatural: Supernatural abilities are magical and go away in an antimagic field but are not subject to spell resistance. Supernatural abilities cannot be dispelled. Using a supernatural ability is a standard action unless noted otherwise. Supernatural abilities may have a use limit or be usable at will, just like spell-like abilities. However, supernatural abilities do not provoke attacks of opportunity and never require Concentration checks. Unless otherwise noted, a supernatural ability has an effective caster level equal to the creature’s Hit Dice. The saving throw (if any) against a supernatural ability is 10 + 1/2 the creature’s HD + the creature’s ability modifier (usually Charisma).
Oops, guess I forgot to read this part.

Well thanks anyways guys.

The book, not the miniatures. Actually, I think only one monster from that book was made into a mini, The Hunched giant. Which sucks, because an Annihilator mini would have been cool.

The Annihilator looks like a Rust Monster with no mouth and four Antennae.

The Annihilator looks like a Rust Monster with no mouth and four Antennae.True, an annihilator is cool... but not with at least 24 HD (20 + 4), and with these feats (at 21 HD and at 24 HD): Rapidstrike (antennae), Improved Rapidstrike (antennae). That gives 6 antennae attacks.

That's 5d6 x 6 (30 to 180) or 40d6 x 6 (240 to 1440) pts of damage. If you survive and win, you walk out with a few missing pieces. :P
